Delta Airlines and US Airways agreed to a swap takeoff and landing spots on several routes.



Delta Airlines Inc.http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/...hange-slots.html?ana=yfcpc#bizWatch-infoPopup will give US Airways Group Inc.http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/...hange-slots.html?ana=yfcpc#bizWatch-infoPopup $66.5 million in cash and 42 takeoff and landing slots at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., as part of an exchange of takeoff and landing rights. The deal also includes the right for US Airways to operate additional daily service to Sao Paulo in 2015.
In exchange, Atlanta-based Delta (NYSE:DAL), the Triad's second busiest airline, will acquire 132 slot pairs at New York’s LaGuardia Airport from US Airways. A slot pair is the authority to operate one takeoff and one landing.
