What do you guys know about them? Are they currently hiring? Good place to work or not? What kind of planes do they have? Payscale etc, lots of questions I know but I'm really curious, as I'd like to move back to that area.

USAirports

Here's what I know.......

USAirports is new in the charter business. The owner and his son have more of a history in Airport (and other) property management. If I recall, they got into the FBO business several years ago as well as some aircraft leasing. In the past year or so they have grown VERY rapidly.

The "fleet" consits of this, the last I knew:

5 King Air's. 4 200's and an F-90

1 Beechjet

1 Astra

The Beechjet is owned by a local company and is managed by USAirports.

I think the Astra (previously the aircraft flown by Global Crossings' Frontier Telephone unit) is some type of "shared" deal. I'm not sure if it's on the charter certif or not.

The King Air's and Beechjet are on the certif. Some KA's are owned and others are leased.

Flying: They have contract flying out of Buffalo for a bank. M & T I believe. It sounds like a shuttle type operation.... 4 am. legs and 4 pm legs, three times a week, ONE CREW. I had heard they position the plane to BUF and leave the crew over there for the duration of the flying, then position home on the last day. Not sure what other type of charter flying they are doing. I suspect the usual off the street stuff.

I believe the article I linked for you mentions something about 'selling seats' in some type of "scheduled" operation, but I have not heard any more on that.

Staffing:

There has been some turmoil in this department and I won't go into the details on this board, but would gladly fill you in on a PM if you wish. The last count I had was 14 or so pilots for the 7 airplanes, including the management types. The KA's are flown 'two' pilot. The Beechjet has three qualified in it, I believe, as does the Astra. Not everone is dual qualified, but some of that trainin is going on. If the 7 planes don't fly all that much, staffing would seem to be ok, but if everthing is out regularly, then it wouln't appear there would not be much crew flexibility for covering training events, vacations, etc....

I am not sure if they are actively recruiting. From time to time they have run adds in the local paper.

Here is the article I mentioned:
