I'm trying to learn more about the situation at usair. I've done research but more info would help.
It seems to me that if I start there this year it could go one of two ways: the mergers with American will happen a pay raise would kick in and then after 7 years I would be able to bid system wide with mass retirements all the while laughing at my friends that said usair sucks.
The second is the mou doesnt pass the merger happens and the negotiations for a new contract take forever, I file for bankruptcy when I hit year 2 Fo pay.

How certain are you guys that the merger will take place? I am convinced becuase of the slot swap with delta. do you guys automatically get raises if that happens and what would year 2 and 3 e190 and 320 pay be?
How are reserve rules? I would move to clt but I would commute to Phl for a while.
How many days off is the average line for a line holder?

I'm 80 percent sure. All the Tom Horton crap is just bluffing. It happens during every high profile merger. It's a dance, and he's dancing. When every stakeholder BUT management of one company wants a merger, you can bet it will happen.

Prolly shorter than that, but the main retirements are at US Airways for 7 years, then there for 7 years.

That is possible. That is $57 hour and you can most likely get off the E190 to earn it.

95%

do you guys automatically get raises if that happens

If MOU passed - at announcement of merger (POR)
If MOU not passed - up to 2 years when we achieve single carrier status

Pretty lame, but the 90 minute call out seems pretty loosely enforced. Under LOA 93 there are very few rules indeed for them to concern themselves with.

Guessing 15-16 but I plan on bidding short call for 10 years by choice.

All paramators are subject to change during the next contract. Get hired first. Till then you don't have a decision to make. You, I or anyone else knows how a career will go at any airline until it's over. Good Luck. FWIW I would apply.

I actually had to be one of the first ones in by luck so thats why i am trying to gather info. Im not trying to disrespect anyone that has been there forever but to me it seems like the future has potential to bemuch more bright than the present and past

I took the leap. This place will either be the best thing that ever happened to me or the worst, I'll let you know when I'm 65. If you are young and have time to recover from a disaster in the next 5 years, I think it's a smart gamble.

we all want more info. That's the nature of being a mushroom in a mushroom factory.

it's an airline job...

they suck. It's the worst job among airline jobs....
I would move to clt but I would commute to Phl for a while.
there is no point at all to commute to reserve. You will always be on the road.

there is one bright side to short call.. You must be within 90 normal driving minutes to the airport.. In other words there is no requirement for you to be at the airport in 90 minutes. You might have to go home from yhe gym to shower and then drive in traffic to the airport. It could take 2 or 3 hours.
How many days off is the average line for a line holder?
by the time you will be able to get a line we will probably have a new contract. But current lines are generally 14-21 days, depending on equipment and seniority. Most average 16-18.
Good luck

Get an interview and a job offer first before you spend too much time speculating.

There is nothing to fear here either way. Merger or no merger.

Even under LOA 93 life is not bad. Truth to be told, it's mostly the west types that yap about how bad life under LOA93 is yet they are not even under it.

LO93/USAIR is still far superior to any stinking regional gig anywhere, and sooner or later LOA93 will be gone. And its looking to be sooner rather then later.

The smart money is on getting hired at the front of this retirement bubble. It's going to be the quickest upgrade to Captain of all majors.
