I knew there had to be a good reason why my dispatcher cancelled GSO last night. :)

Not surprising ... I've been stuck in my office since yesterday morning due to weather. Last night was NASTY ice over four to six inches of snow here in GSO. Glad everyone was OK. Was it CHQ?

It was a Trans States Airlines Jetstream 4100

The J41 landed and the beta triggers were stuck so reverse was unavailable. They slowed to taxi speed and were about to exit the runway when the Anti-skid light came on and they had no braking on the icy runway. Idle thrust accelerated them and they ran out of runway trying to regain braking. Mechanics and other pilots verified that the beta triggers were in fact stuck. A flat nose tire was the only apparent damage. I don't know the status after the plane was ferried back to RIC.

I know this directly from the captain and fo of the flight.

Just wondering...

Did they run of the end? Or just the side?

If its the end of a 10,000 runway then I just have a few more questions.

DrinkSweetTea:

It was at the end of the runway. One of your questions is probably why didn't they shut off the engines? I can tell you that shutting 'em down was considered. It's easy to second-guess decisions after the fact but hearing it described I probably would've done the same thing.
