Hello all-

I was just wondering where I could find a detailed breakdown of UPT training. How many hours of flight time do you get- roughly. How the training is and what it's like. Thanks in advance for your replies.

If you want to know what it's like, there are plenty of people who have posted on-line journals with detailed information of their experiences at UPT. I'm sure if you typed some key words into Google, you'd get plenty of returns. If you want to know more of the specfics and details, get your hands on a current syllabus. It lists the suggested profiles, required items for every ride, and I believe a suggested sortie length. The Operation Support Squadron at a UPT base should have access to these, and most will have a copy of Adobe that they could email you.

It will be an exciting time for you. The training is very fast paced and will be easy to get behind. The days will be long and action packed. You have a good back ground, being a CFI. If I were you, I would keep the details of my personal back ground and flight experience to myself. Just be a team player and do the best you can without drawing attention to yourself. You will learn an incredible amount of information pertaining to the operation of high performance jet aircraft. Take good notes and review them often. Good study habits are going to be mandatory for 95% of the class. There always seem to be one or two folks who breeze through with ease. The academics were not that difficult if you keep up with the lessons. Plan to spend time as the duty officer and the snack bar manager. The flight training is the best in the world and remember it is only available to a few. Best of luck.
