UPT pay is pretty good. If you live on-base it's more than you need unless you've got a gambling problem on the side. Besides, you'll be too busy to spend it on anything other than hookers in Boy's Town (if you end up at Laughlin).

Traditional guard pay sucks but it's still better than first year regional pay.

Depends if you're going to a heavy or fighter unit. C-130 guys are able to pick up ton of trips which really adds to your pay. Fighter guys don't get as much TDY and hence, less $$.

My next paycheck is $1222.xx. (after taxes) I am on base housing, so I don't get BAH. You get that if you move off base. It comes out to 600-700 a month.

Good luck at UPT.

Is that twice a month or is that monthly? SOrry, coming from the civilian world, all paychecks to me mean every two weeks!

Twice a month. $2444/mo. in the bank. (29,328/yr)

Beats regional pay...........

What I would do, (if I were single), is move off base and room up with another UPT student. You'd be getting an extra $700/mo (approximate) for rent, of which you would only spend $300.

Not sure if thats technically against the rules, but you'd make out like a bandit!

Just don't let the man find out. You're better off living on-base or alone. You'll want the time to study and not have to deal with anyone else's BS. On-base is good as you can get together with neighbors to group study from time to time.

Besides, if you're going to Laughlin, the best place in town is on-base!

Enough to live on, but not exactly an extravagant lifestyle. God O-2 hurry up and get here!!!

Not like you'll be buying a mansion with O-2 pay either......

Still, I'm making 29500 BEFORE taxes here at my current finance job (why I"m looking at going to OTS and UPT), is I can get my package submitted and go to the board on time (I"m 27) bu thave until about next september before the 28 1/2 age) though my 'recruiter' is not being too helpful in expediting getting everything together. I waited so long due to misinformation in the past regarding the chance to fly without 20/20 vision in the air force and me being too stupid to research info on my own to learn about waiver and such. If I had known I had a chance before I would have done all this right after graduation college. Oh well.

Don't go to UPT for the $$. I don't know what the age cutoff is any more. Used to be 27.5 and keep in mind that you have to start UPT before the age cutoff.

Hey aren't you getting paid as an LT with x number years, or an O-1E? Just curious. I was told my time in service will follow me when it comes to pay.

I don't have enough time on active for O-1E (so I'm told).

But you're still getting 0-1 time at how many years you've got, right?
I think you need 4 years active duty. I have 3 and 4+ reserve. Some have told me I qualify, others said no. Unfortunately, the "no" people were the ones in finance... so yeah, I get regular O-1 pay.

If you have 4+ AD, then you should get it.
