I worked for UPS for over half a decade (on the ground side of things). Do you think they would consider a person that had all the qualifications other than a degree, or toss the resume?

You are the perfect candidate that Brown likes, except for the degree. Do you really expect to make the 6 figure salary UPS pays without a degree? Get it done and you should have an excellent chance IMO.

A friend of mine got hired there around 1998 with no degree. Just commuter time 1900, CRJ.

I've got 13 months of pool time. I think LLB has me beat by one month. We're just training for the Olympic team for 08. Give me two more years and I'll be ready to go for the gold! Come join us.

Welcome to the pool. I do have Mr. B. beat by one month. 14 months and stop counting. Not proud of it, but still holding on. One class was set for April 3rd with 6 guys. No new news on anything else.

Splash, splash in the old UPS pool.

All you swimmers...

What seem to be the magic numbers to get called? Is an inside rec pretty much required these days for those of us who have not landed the shuttle?

I think you still need an inside rec. even if you have landed the shuttle.

LittleLearBoy have you attempted to contact anyone at UPS? I know in the welcome letter they say not to contact them but curious if you have spoken with anyone in HR recently........14 months you got me nervous!!!

Good luck and way to stay patient!

Hey Fellows!

How long from the time you applied to the time you got called for an interview?
I have flown with two UPS Pilots, with letters of recommendation. One is a 10yr F/O and the other is a 12yr Capt.
I used to work for UPS (Accounting) when I was back in college (part-time). I have talked to two managers, which are the Miami Gateway Accounting , and the Caribbean/Central/South America Accounting manger, respectively. I'll be visting one of them within a couple of weeks. I have talked to them to get a letter of recommendation, but I'm unsure if they have written one.

Any advice will greatly appreciated.

PS. Sorry for the two previous erronous posts, I'm still trying to figure out how to use this post.

Hey Don Q sounds like you have many connections there which seems to be what they really look for. My only two cents is if you do not hear anything by May you might want to consider going to an Air Inc. job fair, I believe the next one is in Atlanta and I am almost positive UPS will be there since it's there HQ.

Hey RJDC, take your useless flaimbait elsewhere. It is quite droll.

Don Q and everyone else,

Understand that we haven't run any classes of considerable size yet this year. No one knows why there haven't been more and bigger classes. Only the planners probably know why. I do believe, though, the floodgates WILL open in the near future. All signs point to this happening. UPS just likes to take their time.

As for your letters Don Q, I think you are in the right area. I only had one letter, and it was from an employee that is not in the Air Region but works with people from there. Try to get your internal recs. to be proactive. You need to do something to really stand out or to get your app to the top of the pile. Things are EXTREMELY competitive right now. As hiring ramps up, things will probably ease somewhat. All of this, is of course, conjecture and the opinions of just one person. I could be totally wrong.

Good luck to you, and to all of you poolies, keep hanging in there.

Mgt recs, even when they are from outside the airline, are much better than line pilot recs. UPS wants employees not just pilots. We are very different than FedEx in hiring practices.

I heard that the reason UPS is not hiring is that they are going to go ahead and screw the IPA on the Menlo flying issue. Since they are going to keep it contracted out there is no need to hire many.

A UPS "employee", in fact.
