Anybody have a clue what it takes to get an interview at UPS? Myself and a couple of other acquaintances have the time, internal recs, and have been going at this a while now - our sponsors (line pilots) perceive the hiring machine as a black box - no real clue what the mechanism is for getting an interview call.

Anyone?

Just apply online. It shouldn't take that long. From my first ever initial contact with UPS to starting class was less than two months.

What? Capt. Megadeth is posting again? You didn't stay away from this website for very long?

That's cuz I got an overwhelming NO when I asked if I should retire. I wouldn't want to disappoint my fans......he he Plus, I'm just a junkie.

obviously

if you want to get hired what your doing isn't working. I heard if you want to get hired at UPS it has something with packing the brown. If you can't pack the fudge then you can't carry the brown.
OH OH, CAREFUL DON'T GET MY SUIT ALL BROWN.........

Hey Freight Nazzi,

Can you elaborate on how you did it?
I'm coming up to a year since I applied, I'm a former UPS employee and have recommendations, and NO Luck yet...

Thanks in Advance,
DQ

I've had an app. in since early last year, no call.

Know one guy and he recommended a guy and later was burned by him after he quit in his first year.

No great secret for me. Just applied online and they called a week or so later to schedule the interview and was given the next class date on the spot.

And you've been with UPS how long now?

Is UPS even hiring? I thought they weren't hiring until the TA passed. Maybe I am completely out of the loop.

As of 1 Aug EVERYONE must reapply at UPS due to some computer upgrade and only people who have re-applied will be called for interviews. I've never been accused of being the sharpest tack in the box, but it sure seems like an easy way to jump over thousands of applicants who haven't gotten the word. John posted the info at airlinepilotcentral.

ANC could very well go extremely junior (both seats) in subsequent bids (to the most recent) ... as in new hire MD-11 FO and 3 year seniority a Captain. Potentially, a 3rd year captain could earn upwards of $200k (assuming the TA passes) ... that'd buy an awful lot of commercial tickets to/from ANC and still come out WAY ahead ... an interesting situation definitely. YMMV.

Well thanks for the heads up on resubmitting. When I went to the UPSjobs site, sure enough, my info wasn't found. I started the application again but couldn't finish as my flight times are at home (on the road here).

Be prepared - it's as detailed as the Continental app.

Am I looking at the rights site...?

I went to the website I've got bookmarked to update it today, and it hadn't changed, all my info was still on there in the same format. It says Edit Resume/CV on the top, and here's the link: http://ups.softshoe.com/cgi-bin/parse-file?TEMPLATE=/htdocs/person-edit-verify.html

Could someone confirm if I'm using the correct site? BTW, I've had my stuff in for about 18 months, internal recs, no call.

Thanks

Hm - interesting. When I went to the site you included, I WAS able to find my resume, etc that I had put in last week. But...... if you go to this URL

https://ups.managehr.com/screening/professional/jobdetail.aspx?jobreqid=1065&classification=U&locationtype=CITYSTATE&zip=&zipradius=10&citystate=KY%20-%20Louisville&jobcategorylst=&keywordtxt=

it explains the minimums needed for a Flight Officer position, then leads you to a much more detailed application (last 10 years of employment, schooling, and a large flight time grid).

I know nothing about the internal workings at UPS, but I am filling out this application too. This might be the "new" one that Big Beer Belly is talking about. It is certainly more complete and pilot-oriented than the other one (that only asked for TT and PIC time).

as the Russian controllers often say, Good Luck!

UPS HR wants all pilot applicants to know that you must reapply using their new online app system.

As of July 31st, a new system is in place, requiring everyone who submitted an app before this date to reapply.

Estimating hiring 300 pilots between now and the end of 2007. Interviewing 3-5 pilots per day 5X per week. Interviews right now have been scheduled out for the next month. Interviewees after that will be ones that have apps in with the new system.

Upcoming scheduled class dates:
Aug 30: 7 727 SO
Sept 12: 9 757 FO (mix of SDF, MIA, and ONT domiciles)
Oct 10: 4 DC8 SO; 4 757 FO MIA
Depending on how the latest system bid shakes out, new-hires could be going into the new MD11 ANC domicile in the near future.

Poolies as well?

Hey BBB!

Do the poolies need to complete this new application? I have been updating my online resume regularly but maybe they have not been recieving the updates because I have been updating a form they don't use anymore.

That wouldn't be good..

Still swimming..

Dog,

Sorry, I have no more info ... gotta give HR a buzz.

When I read this on the CP's hotline a week or so ago I laughed ... this is like the third time they've pulled this computer upgrade bit and essentially void all previous applications. It does create an "opportunity" for those who get word their app has been deleted and re-apply under the new format.

If I were king I'd run things differently. :p
