"We have received your responses to the UPS pilot assessments. Unfortunately, we currently have many qualified applicants and will not be able to schedule you for additional testing at this time. Thank you for your interest in UPS."

Above is the message I got after finishing the assessment a few minutes ago. It sounds like a failure message to me (if there is such a thing). Anyone get a call after getting this message? Please someone say yes - so pi$$ed right now! Where to go from here? Thanks ladies and gents.....

Moose... sorry to read the above. The use of the MMPI for employment screening is definitely controversial.

In general, from what I've been told (hearsay), UPS is not one of those companies eager to expend resources on applicants that were unsuccessful in previous assessments/interviews. I'm not trying to bum you out further... just don't want you to get your hopes up. Personally, I'd reapply and continue to update as your quals increase.

It might be worth your time/money to research the MMPI... perhaps going as far as taking it again (privately) and having the results professionally interpreted. A number of companies use some form of psychological assessment testing to filter applicants.

In any case, good luck. I'm always bummed to hear of applicants with your qualifications getting turned away.

The first cut is the deepest. As a bachelor-friend of mine says about dating, "If you're not getting dumped by half the women you go out with, you're setting your sights too low." The same might be said of job-searches as well.

My understanding of the MMPI is that it's used primarily to weed out those with gross personality abberations or defects. If you're flying for the military, you probably don't have any, or at least you're able to keep them in check.

I've also heard that it's hard to beat an MMPI. There are certain checks built into it that are meant to insure the validity of the test. Don't ask me what they are or how they work...the whole concept seems kind of specious to me to begin with. How the he11 am I supposed to know if "My stools are darker than those of the person sitting next to me?" or if "People with swarthy complexions are evil?"

Most Psychologists can administer an MMPI in their office. It might not be a bad idea to have one done, not only to gain some insight into your own personality, but so that you don't choke the next time you're asked to take one by a prospective employer.

Even with heavy international time I didn't make it to the assessment test . But when I spoke to the recruiter at an AIRINC job fair he said I should be a shoo in with what I had on my resume. Go figure.

People score lower on this test when they answer what they "think" the eval wants, consequently lowering their score. Be honest and straightforward, you'll score higher. This was what I got from a Doc for a JAZ interview.
