While it is true the most Junior CA was hire in 2000, don't forget they didn't hire from 9/01 through 11/03. They also had furloughs to call back. This "slump" will not affect upgrades much longer. We saw a lot of growth at Eagle in 2004-05, but we also took on 300+ flow back pilots, who are leaving all the time. They should all be gone by next year. Not only this, but the Flow Through pilots will start to leave too. (this is an impending grievence)

Net result, quicker upgrades for the guy getting hired now than the guy who hired on in 2000. I was hired in 2004 and expect to be a CA next year (If I don't leave and go somewhere else)

The latest vacancy bid shows 96 EMJ FO slots for ORD. A person could essentially be holding a line their first full month after IOE if he were on the senior end of that class.

Now is the time to go to Eagle. Life is getting better all the time.

Who cares..........

As always a di*k at flight info. Who cares? Everyone that enjoys working at eagle and has been praying for a quicker upgrade......oh yeah, di**

Im going to have the agree with the who cares post. It seems like every year we see this same post pop up. EAGLE UPGRADE TIMES ARE DROPPING.... and guess what it hasnt happened yet. Thats why i LEFT and you should leave too.

when are you moving back to wisconsin?

I am at Eagle and am going to agree with the who cares statement.
Everyone knows what the deal is here, great place to work, and most will agree. But SKW is just as good IMO, but when it comes down to it it is just another regional.
By the way BMP, great avatar.

Well I don't think at this time last year anyone was suggesting upgrade times are coming down. We were full of flowbacks with no relief in sight, and then in Sept. the announcement was made that AA would recall 10/month starting January.

No one's saying it'll be a quick upgrade. My CAUTIOUSLY optimistic projection is a 4 yr. upgrade to SF340/ATR CA this time next year. Many changes could still happen here (for better or worse) pending the next letter 3 grievance.

That's all I was trying to say. State the facts and let people think for themselves. 4 years is a realistic projection for the newhire. It isn't good, this is true, but it is better then the 8 years, agreed?

Jet Driver, I don't blame you for throwing that out there. Many people see the 5/00 junior CA and think that explains the whole story behind Eagle upgrade times.

Besides, we need more talk about AE on here, IMO. It seems like all people wanna talk about are ASA, XJT and SKW!

All I can say is that Eagle might not be the best, but it surely is not the worst. At the end of the day it's still a regional, but It's nice that at the end of the day I dont have to commute, but just drive 10 minutes to my house. Also, I get my days off! This surely beats the hell out of 135 unschedule charter/cargo.

Eagle is a rather decent company with a decent contract and excellent training. Just slow moving upgrade wise. If you have 500 hrs or less go to eagle and get paid, trained and treated better than at most other regionals. Upgrade should be there when you hit the required 3000TT.

Now THAT is hopefully some good news. Show me a current regional contract that allows folks on property to make 10 grand a month, and I'll show you... well, something like AE.

Why folks have to piss on this is beyond me. All the best.

Usually people that bit*h and moan about eagle are people that came looking for a fast upgrade and didnt get it. Commuters also tend to complain. Also the worst ones usually are people that came straight from instructing to the airlines. I guarantee you that if they went to fly some on call 135 cargo/pax they would see how easy they have it at eagle. Eagle has a pretty good contract, training was good, and I this "abuse" that some talk about...well, havent had that either. I hate to say it, but at the end of the day this is still a business.

Usually the complainers about Eagle dont work here, they are at other companies trying to explain why they did not want to come here. Or they got hired somewhere between 98-01, those are the guys that have been burdened with the very long upgrades, as these are the guys that were here when the flowbacks came in after 01, and they are the guys that sat in the FOs seat during the 3 year hiring freeze. Now that all of the FBs are leaving and we are almost ready to start having people hired after the hiring freeze upgrade time for a newhire to the left seat will be about 4 years, I have been here close to a year now and have moved up almost 600 numbers. If the guys with AA numbers also are forced to flow(and the rumor, important word rumor)might start happening in DEC, arbitrator already ruled in their favor, all that needs to happen is the first TWA flowbie leaves Eagle for AA, which will happen in NOV, our guys with numbers will flow. Again if this happens upgrade time will change to 2-3 years.
All this said, if it is a 6 year upgrade I dont really care, love my weekends, and 14 days off a month, I like not being called on my days off, I like the way that I am treated. Besides now that we see that companies like Netjets, Flexjet, DAL and CAL are hiring for mainline guys with 0 hours of PIC turbine time, I ask myself how important is the upgrade time at a regional really?

Exaaaaactly bro...that's my thing right there. I just had a captain tell me that I should just apply to skywest to upgrade faster. But what people fail to realize is that the last thing i want to do is commute for a company that might give me a quick upgrade and 121PIC but wont guarantee me a job with a Legacy or Major. I love being able to drive home at the end of a day, or hell sometimes 2 to 3 days on reserve without getting a call! That's not bad. To me QOL and job security is a bit more important. The upgrade will come, not only do I have the flight time but the experience. Now I just want to enjoy my days off and QOL with my wife and little one. I personally enjoy flying for Eagle.

Flybet, it is the same that I hear from the people who are here working, I very seldom talk with people who actually work here who dislike it.

Been at Eagle 3 years. 2004 was awful, but I would recommend it now. The guys that I know that left for greener pastures usually miss it. If I would have left for Skywest in 04 or 05, I'd be captain, but I also would have had to start over at $19/hr for a year and a nightmare commute for my 8 leg day on the Brazillia. Playing the shoulda/coulda/woulda game will drive you crazy.

Overall from what I know and what my friends at different carriers have told me, Eagle and XJet are the top regionals, and XJet has a big gamble with the branded flying. If I had to choose today and all commutes were the same I'd say Eagle would be the top choice.

Indeed. I wont lie if Skywest had a Dallas base I might've gone there. To me the upgrade is not as important b/c of the 121PIC, but it would be b/c of the money. Skywest is a good regional too, but like I said I'd rather sacrifice a few years of PIC time instead of having to commute and never see my family.
