Can somebody please tell the upgrade times for these companies..

MESABA
PINNACLE
AMERICAN EAGLE
SKYWEST
EXPRESSJET

Thanks

MESABA...indefinite
PINNACLE...forever
AMERICAN EAGLE...never
SKYWEST...upgrade?
EXPRESSJET...much longer:D

At Coex expect perhaps a 5 year upgrade on the low side, more like 10 if there is no enhanced flow-through negotiated with CAL.

Latest award at Pinnacle was around 1.5 years. Taking in account that you're not an employee for the first two months, and the month or so until training starts, it would be equivalent to 1year and 9 months.

Mesaba's is most Jr Captians are 4yr-9mo - 5yr on the SF-340. 6Yr on the Jet there are a few.

The most junior person in the RJ upgrade class at SkyWest starting in a few days has been with the company just over 3.5 years.

EMB upgrade times vary greatly depending on rate of transition to the CRJ and openings of new domiciles. When I was a newhire they took guys from my class who had previous experience out of F.O. IOE and sent them back for captain training. At that time no one wanted to go to IAH, even for an upgrade. I would say reasonable time to expect in the bro is around 2 to 2.5 years.

It all depends on two things: growth and people leaving off the top. The latter has slowed to a trickle, the first makes all the difference in the world right now...

USA Jet

DA-20 Capt 18 months $50K/yr, DC-9 Capt 5 years $65K/yr

top out

guar $92K, with IP incentive, sold days, over guar, etc. $135K. I think one guy got up to $150K during a busy year.

pilotyip,

Thanks for the information, is that based on a 12 year scale or less years? If the need is within the 9 fleet will you hire into that equipment from the new hires or is all movement from the upgrading of the DA-20 guys?

16 years

Scale tops out at 16 years. We only hire outside pilots for the DC-9 when we do not have enought bidders in the company for the openings. We hired 2 DC-9 F/O's two years ago. They are still on the bottom of the DC-9 senority behind all the DA-02 pilots coming over to the DC-9

upgrade

Mesa'a jets vary but the turbo props are much different:

B 1900D- about 4months
Dash 8- Less than 6 months

Of course you have to have your ATP writtens and required hours. Hope that info helps you!!!!

cvoAV8R

So... cvoAV8R... what's the upgrade time on that Lear 60???

Sorry, couldn't help it. :D

Stuck in Murfreesboro, TN, - captpetefam

dont drink the Koolaid about the enhanced flow through. the only thing it enhances is the top 1/4 of the lists careers, while screwing the rest. I would rather be an FO for 10 years and know that i have a job vs upgrading fast and loosing the seat to a flushback or getting furloughed. It has happened twice already. History has an interesting way of repeating itself. We should have the option to opt out and keep our seniority compare to people who leave.

Pilotyip! come on now... Ive been here 20 plus months and I was the "alternate" for the last upgrade. With no foreseeable upgrades in the next several months AT LEAST, how do you get 18 months? Perhaps seeing all the folks leaving you're thinking of what it might be like here in 6 months or so.
The rest of your numbers i can't argue with....

oh and hey! wheres my left seat letter? :)

One number

One number above you was awarded Capt at 18 months.
No one can predict the future other than death and taxes, but you will probably get a chance to bid either DC-9 F/O or DA-20 Capt in the next couple months.
