Upgrade Program

How do some of your companies upgrade a typed sic to a pic "captain"? We already have the list of things that get checked off like duty time, weather, etc. What I want to hear is do you send them to the sim, do they have a standardization flight that is observed by a management pilot. Basically how do you take a new hire and in a year or less have a captain? Thanks and btw this is part 91 .

Our company does in-house training for CE-500 SIC's and sends upgrades to Simuflite for PIC. Then when they come back they fly a few trips with Caps as their copilots to 'check them out', teach them the paperwork, etc.

It really depends on the company.
