The last news I had seen United was planning on furloughing an additional 350 pilots. My question is how deep in terms of hire date will these new cuts go? The reason I ask is I was in school with several pilots who work for United and my heart really goes out to them. I personally hope that United as a company can remain viable well into the future. Thanks for any info.

I just got an e-mail update from the union.

Old furlough plan....220 pilots gone on 1/6, and 132 gone on 2/7.

New plan....220 pilots gone on 1/15 and 180 gone on 3/1/03.

We currently have 844 pilots on furlough which goes back to a mid-April 2000 hire date.

The additional 400 will, I think, go back to a November '99 hire date.

All kinds of rumors out on the line today, but the changes in the furlough are fact....at least for now!

Cheers!

Nancy Stuke's sabotage plan is not in jeopardy.

Furloughs only go back to 1999. Let's all demand:

FULL PAY TILL THE LAST DAY
