If you're REALLY fired up to check a bag while jumpseating, try AA. We'll MAKE you check your bag...

What do you mean by "check" it? Do they gate check it (throw on a tag and it's waiting for you on the jetbridge upon landing) or regular check it where you have to exit security to claim it.

I'd love to gate check my rollerbag so I don't have to drag it on board and find out there's no place to put it.

The quagmire of the free ride....

How do I get my dog, child, ski's, bike, furniture, etc... on board the same jet I don't know if I'll get on 'till the last minute....

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm

You can gate check it and pick it up at baggage claim... the problem is, if you gate check it too soon the rampers will take it before you get approval to jumpseat...

So... as the gate agent is antsy to get on time... you need to get approved, then get a gate checked tag, put it on, get it to the ramper and get in your seat.....

Why not use your airline discount and FedEx it.... or even better, use FedEx. They'll probably take you and your junk.... er I mean stuff...

I've checked skis on United many times with no problems at Den. Very nice people and they are quite use to doing this there.

It's the same thing as using an ID90/ZED fare, just for free. If you don't get on, the bag doesn't get put on the plane - most of the time.

I carried a rifle through the airport in a roller case behind me while in uniform........ then I checked it in for an offline jumpseat.
