Ive got an app that I need to fill out and I want it to look as neat as possible. I actually do have great penmanship however I figured potential employers may prefer it to be typed.

Where can I go to have my application typed out on the app they gave me? Is that necessary? Any suggestions?

bumpsky. Is typing up the app an absolute must do?

When I got hired at my current job they told me to not bother typing it. I was thankful for that. Especially when you start looking at all the pages they include for background checks etc.

Funny, I had the same dilemma. Those old fashioned things are hard to find. After stops at a couple of libraries and a doctor's office I eventually went back to an old employer's office!

Scanning the page and entering it on a .pdf might work.

Good Luck, Ebay might be another choice, but probably not the quickest.

PS. I got the job, so maybe it helped..

I scanned and typed up several regional / freight applications and wasted a lot of time doing so. On my last regional that I interviewed with and was hired at, I didn't bother typing it up, and they didn't care. Just an FYI.

This fresh in from an Air Inc. interview with NetJets:

ALPC: How can a pilot make a “standout” application?
Jerry: The time and effort put into an application reflects a person’s care and self-respect. They’re putting this application out as “this represents me” and a lot of times it’s just a mess, literally. We don’t expect that every application is going to be typed, but you would think that if you were truly interested in a job, you would put your best foot forward. And perhaps some people think this is just a technicality, but because we do so much of our screening on the front end, it’s a very important step.

I knew someone who was a pilot recruiter at a fairly large airline. She said don't bother, jsut print legibly. There app was pretty funky with a tri-fold design and very congested, which made it seemignly impossible.

Make a couple copies of it and practice filling it out before you do the real deal.

I can't see anyone tossing out an application that is typed, somebody might toss one that is hand written. Personally I would type it just to be safe why take the chance.
