:angryfire That’s right it’s Aug 10, 2007, two years after the union was voted in, and where are we. Two years without raises, two years without bonuses, stalled in mediation and the union telling us to start saving for a strike. Ever notice how fast the dispatchers that voted in this union jumped ship. The one thing the union has been able to accomplish is lowering the expectations of the members. The only good thing about the two year mark is now we have the opportunity to get them off the property and start getting our raises that we have worked so hard for. We really need to start thinking about what the worth of the union is. If you want to keep the union you need to figure out what you expect from the union and then find out if the union is actually working to get you that. Many people found out in the last couple of meetings that they are not addressing many of issues that got them voted in.

Amen!! I also went about two years w/o raises or bonuses waiting for an initial contract. Be carefule what you wish for.

what does it take to get your union out?

It's going to take a group of 30+ people to take a risk. That risk is to trust our management.

It's the same management that has dumped CLC in our laps. It's the same management that has taken advantage of us every chance they've gotten for two years. What would you do as a manager if your workgroup voted in a Union? Kneejerk reactions suck but I don't really blame them.

At the same time, ask yourself what the TWU has done for us?

They haven't done too much. The "contract" they negotiated was, at best, mediocre. There was nothing there for our benefit so we voted 'No' at a ratio of 2 to 1. Our main focus at this point is compensation.

Compensation is going nowhere until the TWU goes away. The TWU wants our dues. They could care less about us.

We need to vote it out.

It's going to take the dispatchers in the office to get fed up with "waiting to see what happens" and decide they want to do somthing to improve our lives. http://www.nrtw.org/d/deauth_decert_rla.htm

The dispatchers here won't get fed up. They'll just keep reading the TWU's letters thinking that the TWU is the only option. No one will ask questions, form their own opinions and seek information. They'll continue to just blindly believe whatever they read on that bulletin board.

Blind versed union-boys (and ladies) who want to chime in and don't really know the situation...

Hello, where are you?!!!! Tantrum time. A perfect opportunity to glaze the world over with universal union knowledge and show how the safety-net works. Hello!!!!

American Idol must be on...

I gave it one whole night for a response and all I hear are crickets chirping. Maybe no one wants to chime in. I don't know.

In any case, there's seems to be no defense for a money hungry, self interested organization like a union.

Or maybe everyone's doing important things like catching up on the past American Idol, Survivor or Big Brother episodes on TiVo.

You know, important stuff like that.
