Wife just came in and said she had heard of two aircraft going down in our part of the state this evening. One near Ardmore, and another down around Marietta. Dont have any details as of yet.

Looks like there might have been just one crash. Reports say the crash occured around 9:40PM just North of Ardmore, OK. Supposedly two souls on board, but no info on their condition.

There were two separate plane crashes today, one in the late afternoon, and one this evening. Good news is that all four people walked away with only one having minor injuries. The two newstories are below.

After I posted the above news stories, I noticed the new site just added a "Breaking News" story that another aircraft may have gone down tonight. The breaking news article was posted just a few minutes after that last one, so it may be a third crash.

There all from the same news source, so I can't imagine they'd confused the one this afternoon. But three in such a short period of time, in the same area is a little hard to believe.

Isnt McGehees Catfish in Marietta? Flew in there a couple of times before

The Daily Oklahoman reported that it was at McGee's. 4 pax, single engine. Everyone survived, but plane is a loss. I've never flown in, but hear it's a pretty rough gr*************** strip.

second was a guy flying from Ardmore municipal to Ardmore downtown and ran out out gas. He must have been running er' on fumes! No fatalities.

Oh yeah, forgot to add it was 100+ degrees in Okla. on Sat.

Actually, McGehee's strip isn't that rough, at least the last time I was in there many years ago... the problem is the surroundings; a drop-off cliff at the S end, a hill to the N on final, steep drop-offs to the sides plus a large hill with trees and and antenna on the SE edge of the runway, and the the rwy slopes up to the south. 4 people, single engine, hot day... they were hosed from the start.

The strip can be a bit of a handful; couple that with an inexperienced weekend warrior type taking family/friends for a $100 catfish in a 172/Cherokee on a hot day... forget it, it's an accident waiting to happen. When I was flying in there on a regular basis I heard of quite a few planes dinged or crunched there. Do a search on the NTSB site under Marietta, OK from 1984 thru present; you'll be amazed at the number of incidents/accidents...

And those are just the ones that somebody reports, a lot of wrecks just wheeled off to the hangers down in them parts.
