I payed for 100 hrs of twin time. Not the best way to do it but at the time it was the quickest way for me to get to a regional. I didn't look at it as PFT trainng, just buying some flight time like I did when I was working towards my commercial. It doesn't look as good as flying 135 or MEI'ing but it's time nonetheless.
A year or so ago 100-200 hrs of multi time almost always atleast got you an interview(atleast thats the way it happened for me) but nowadays it may or may not. I'd try getting on a 135 operation, Airnet seems pretty good. Descent pay and you can build loads of twin time. For me it would really be a discouragement to pay for multi time and not get any bites..
