I'd choose CHQ if I had to start from scratch and didn't have any seniority. I base that on much quicker upgrade times. TSA is starting to grow and some FOs are upgrading, but there are still a lot of 3+ year FOs and with almost 60 CQFOs getting to cut into the opening captain slots, it will still be a long time to upgrade. It's hard to even say how much growth there will be. There is the possibility to double the size of the fleet or even more in the next couple of years, but TSA is pretty good at screwing things up. TSA is already cancelling lots of flights that they can't staff- even after getting only 2 new airplanes instead of the 4 that were supposed to start flying Nov. 1st.

I used to fly for CHQ and I'm now a TSA newhire. IMHO CHQ has it's act together much better. TSA has a habit of losing code-shares every so often. The current expansion here is exciting but I fear the future is far less certain. But as financial disclaimers say, past performance may not predict future performance. It's a guess either way and you won't know if you were right for several years to come.

CHQ all the way. We got it straightened out now and are back on the path of growing. They've started hiring again indefinitely.
Lots of bases to choose from and good people.

Would like a little clarification from a CHQ guy on current bases. I know they had BOS, LGA, PHL, RIC, MCO, CMH, IND, STL a while back. Then they added BUF and GSO. Had heard a rumor that BOS and/or RIC closed, and that PIT and DFW bases might be forthcoming. Where's it stand, and (of course) where are the newhires winding up?

Thanks!
R

I don't work at either but like others around here have friends at both carriers. To make it short, if the decision was one the table, my info would say CHQ without a doubt.

BOS closed,

RIC still open,

DFW, PIT and ORD all in the rummor mill

GSO and BUF are the most Jr, Given time you can get any base especially with forcasted growth.
