I am currently out of the country and trying to find out some info on renewing an expired TSA permit. The TSA webpage doesn't offer any advice that I can see. We are trying to avoid having to land in Nassau to clear customs before entering the US, now and in the future. Anyone have any experience with this, and some numbers or links to information on the internet? The aircraft was previously Part 135 and the permit expired late 2004. It is a N registered aircraft and owned by a South American. Just trying to make an upcoming trip to the US as trouble free as possible, and avoid any delays.

thanks,
Duderino

Here is a link through NBAA for the TSA waiver. http://web.nbaa.org/public/ops/security/waivers/TSAWaiver20041029.pdf

Also from website:
The office hours for the TSA Office of Special Events are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. The office is closed on US Federal Holidays.

The fax numbers used for submitting all TSA Waiver Applications and related correspondence are:

Primary Fax: (571) 227-1945
Secondary Fax: (571) 227-2948.

Waiver request should not be sent to any other TSA fax number unless instructed to do so by the TSA Office of Special Events.

Waiver requests should be submitted to the TSA Office of Special Events at least 7 business days prior to the desired departure date to ensure adequate processing time.

If approved, only one approval letter will be faxed back to the operator to the fax number listed on the waiver request form.

International Unit

The International Unit handles waiver requests for relief from FDC 2/5319 (Operations To/From Locations outside the US).

CVSFLY Thanks a million. You answered my questions. Its to bad we don't have a week though. Unless some miracle happens with the office back home, we will have to clear somewhere in the Bahamas, or maybe Puerto Rico, any experience there. Appreciate the help.

Bahamas is usually painless. MYEF - Exuma is quiet, no CT, but has an advisory service that will give current weather, nice customs facility - 8000' excellent condition runway, Strachan's Aviation provides JET A (1 person in a truck, no "FBO") 242-345-0641/357-0364 - price is reasonable. Other option would be MYNN and have to deal with more traffic and more money, but fancier facility. Executive Flight Support always treats us well, ask for Franz 242-377-3355. It's been a few years since we been to TJIG - Isla Grande, Puerto Rico. Service was poor. A flying school is the "FBO", fuel ordered from someone who comes from somewhere else in a truck. English wasn't good. But was told TJIG is better than TJSJ for a quick stop.

Good ole Franz. Love those guys, I used to fly there LR35 for awhile. Thanks for all of the numbers, they will come in handy. And thanks for the heads up about Puerto Rico.

If you can avoid MYNN for the purposes of clearing customs in a Portal Country, please do so. MYNN is down to just a single runway operation 9/27. The north/south is close indefinately for a resurface. Depending upon the time you go, you should plane on at LEAST an hour to do a turn.

This is a busy time of year in MYNN, so plan accordingly.

MYEF it is. Thanks ultrarunner, I can't imagine how slow that place is now with only 9/27 open. Hopefully when they fix 14/32 they'll fix the taxiway on the way back to the terminal area after exiting 14. Its kinda of like the big bump on 27R at FLL, but a lot worse.
