Do you guys have trip/duty rigs at Spirit?

I am going to be a newhire in a couple weeks and I am trying to figure out what the real pay is going to be.(Aside from just the hourly rate) Do you get the 8% override on all int. legs to and from the int. destination?

What could I expect to make first and second year there?

I know that negotiations are ongoing, what are the odds of the pay going up anytime soon? Thanks for the input btw.....

The rigs suck...they don't do much for trips, maybe a few minutes here and there.

I think we only have like 3 or 4 "international" destinations...SJO, LIM, GUA maybe AUA so you do get an 8% added on to block for those.

How long would it take a new hire to hold DTW? I know its not a junior base so thats why I am wondering.

Since it is downsizing again April 1 to around 25 FO's I would say you could upgrade elsewhere in the new base structure before you could hold DTW as an FO.

The last FO in DTW now is an early 2007 hire date. April 1 when the base is only 25 people the most junior person will be an early 2004 hire date.

I appreciate the reply. Also, what is Spirit's commuting policy?

Spirit commuting policy anyone?

Spirit commuting policy anyone?
Our current contract is on Airlinepilotcentral.com under downloads. Everything could change in the new contract.Current contract allows you to call in once every rolling 6 months if you are unable to make your flights.

We have some type of agreement with the company that you can call in an unlimited number of times as long as you have tried like two flights and still give the company adequate notice (I forget the details). The company can end this agreement at their discretion. I haven't seen any official LOA regarding this topic.

Hey Beetle. I looked it up on APC thanks to you. Appreciate the reply. Looks pretty similar to most commuting agreements. Any guess on the percentage of pilots who commute for you guys? I know places like AirTran are over 60%. Would think its pretty high percentage at Spirit too.

Lots more commuters now that DTW is getting smaller. Spirit tries to hire pilots who live in base, but thats doesn't help when they close a base.

It sounds like commuting to SJU will be very difficult for those that can't hold anything better. My friend in Minneapolis said it would take him like 12 hours to get from MSP to SJU on the muliple leg commutes.

I haven't met many people that commute and are happy. The 4 days off can quickly turn into 2 days off if you commute and you end up working like 6 on 2 off.
