Could anyone in the know at TMA share a little info about the 757 fleet there? Specifically- how are bases assigned to new guys and exactly how senior is the ORD base? Do bases change often since it is mostly a charter outfit? What would a typical monthly schedule look like for a 757 FO or is there no 'typical' month? I saw on an earlier post that health insurance is fairly lousy at TMA- could anyone currently there comment on that? Or just basically- what's it like as a new guy on the 757 at TMA?

I've got an upcoming interview at Transmeridian and I'm trying to get the lay of the land. I'm currently at ATA and enjoying it, but ATA is on the fast track to bankruptcy so I'm considering my options. I'm not in immediate danger of furlough at ATA (I think), but I also feel that the entire airline may shut down at some point so I can't decide just how picky I can afford to be. So if anyone at Transmeridian has some thoughts on the company I'd sure appreciate them!

Don't mean to be a smart a$$, but isn't there the posibility of a merger with Cactus? That sounds better than a nonsched life to me.

Mach none- Yeah- there's a possibility of a merger/sell off to AWA, Airtran, or Southwest if any of the rumors are to be believed. All three of those companies would be preferable to Transmeridian. But until rumors turn into fact, I'm operating under the assumption that none of it will happen. I'd like to believe that the rumors are true, but I can't figure out for the life of me why any company would want to buy ATA with its crushing debt load when pieces of ATA will be available for a steal after a bankruptcy. I feel that unless there's some big outside invester out there wanting to pump some cash into ATA (not at all likely) then ATA will be going bankrupt very soon- probably within a few weeks. Even if ATA airframes get picked up by other carriers there is certainly no guarantee that I'll be allowed to go with them. I'm aware of how many guys are currently on the street so I'm hesitant to pass up opportunities when presented, even if they are a little unsavory. Just trying to keep my options open.

uhhhm, I've still got an active bid for the 757, so I'd like to hear the answer to your question, too. Us Chicago homeys gotta stick together. Especially if I'm senior to you.
