Hope all is well with the gang? I have still about 4 more years of the Navy life. I am thinking along the lines of the esteemed gentlemen from Nittnay Lions(?!?!).

Anyone looking to transitions(FA-18), might want to reconsider as the billets in this life are closing up for dept head like other communities. Not to mention I am about 100 traps and 600 hours behind my peers. Not ideal.

Still looking for my P-3 buds to keep me in mind if I jump ship though. Keep in touch!

Still waiting for...

MMA. Should be around...oh in about 15 yrs.

Maybe a different transition might be in order.

Hang in there Smithers. I don't know how select your DH board will be but if you can keep near an aircraft you will be fine come time to look for other employment. That does not mean every tour has to be flying. If you have a retirement as cushion, that is all the better. If I remember correctly you have over 11 yrs in.
When you read the comments on this site you can tell there is a lot of anxiety out there as the long list of pilots looking for flying jobs grows.
I am hearing they will make the pick for MMA in June. You can add about 8-10 years on to that date before the plane starts showing up in the fleet. That is assuming they stick to the traditional acquisition timeline.

June for MMA?? I guess we'll know for sure come this April at the annual VP reunion when the other propaganda is throw out by the brass. I'll never forget last year's spectacle when Admirals Winns and Brooks stood up before the crowd and proclaimed, "Our new battle is going to be information warfare.." and the effect from that statement kind of lost its impact when they couldn't get their Powerpoint brief to load. Priceless.

Keydet,
Is that photo the one and only Duke's Nippa Hut in the PI ? Recent photo? Thought Duke took a major hit from the volcano in the 90's. Wonder what the bannana lady is doing for work these days?

Nope, it's the original Duke's Canoe Club in Waikiki; the place that someone could find me every Sunday for the couple of years that I lived there. I didn't know one ever existed in P.I. I thought the chain was limited to the Hawaiian Islands and CALEEFORNEEA.

more on MMA...

MMA is dead, or **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** near dying. I wouldn't stick around either or buy anything that they are trying to sell. It's been empty promises for a long time. A great JO once stood up and told a skipper, "you can't shine that turd, sir." So true, so true.

Aloha.
RogerMOSA.

ps. the original Duke's in on Kauai.

Your kama'aina card must be older than mine. I'd have to place a wager, though, that the mai tai sales at the Waikiki location edge out the Kauai one. On another note, MOSA, how long have you been away from the VP circus and which circus was it?

Roger Mosa,
I agree...not even a 5 year bonus and a lovely trip to the boat would I ever think of going back to VP. If only they had VT's in Hawaii I could have kept my Lanikai hideaway. I do miss the Aloha Fridays (which was really any day of the week)!

The Duke's I referrrenced is XXX rated and then some. Bleachers around a stage in the center. You take it from there.

Once you've been there Kramer...there is no doubt which is which, right Spanky??
I must say though....my memories are with the Dukes at the end of Kamehameha st. strip there in Honolulu. Two yrs at Hickam on the staff could go down as my most enjoyable tour...and hell, it wasn't even flying. (What's that say?? I don't think I'm a seagull?)
