Hey everyone!
I'm new to this board, so please bear with me. I have a big interest in commercial aircraft and I live a few miles from T.F. Green Airport (PVD) in Warwick, Rhode Island. Yesterday, I drove by the back of the airport to watch planes takeoff and land. However, I forgot to bring my scanner so I couldn't tune into the tower frequency. As I was watching, I saw a large plane taxi to the runway for takeoff (looked like a Boeing 727 or 737). I couldn't tell from a distance what airline it was. Usually you can just by looking at the tail of the airplane whether it's USAir, Southwest, Northwest, Continential, Delta, or United... the major carriers out of Providence. But to my surprise, as it was roaring down the runway making it's departure, I saw on the plane "Transamerica Airlines"! Now I know for a fact that airline does not use T.F. Green and further, I thought they went out of business in the 80s! Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks!
