does anyone have pros/cons for trans states? qol, schedule, pay, benefits, training, crew bases, upgrade......all that good stuff, and how was the interview? they still have atrs and jetstreams right?

thanks

TSA is ok I guess. QOL kinda sucks if you live out of base. Planning seems to find amazing ways to make the lines uncommutable IE 5 am show day 1 throw in a few 3 or 5 hour sits on day 4 and you get done round midnite. 2 days off then do it all again. Days off usually 11-13 per month. Paid 60 hours a month during training. No hotel in training so you need to find a crashpad. ATRs are almost gone. Only have 2 left one gone in June other leaving Halloween. 41s were suppose to be gone sometime soon but looks like we might keep 12 - 15 of em around for a while. If usair tanks who knows what will happen. Crew bases are RIC (Richmond Va) and STL (St Louis). Bennies kinda suck health insurance is weak. Uh pay for the jet is 21.75 first year. 74 hour for line holders and 70 hours gaurantee for reserve guys. Most lines lately have been built round 80-85 hours pay. Hard to find more than 3 days off in a row many times a month. If you want more info then go to www.tsalounge.com . Hope that helps. Oh yeah things are gonna get nasty round here cause of the whole Go Jets thing. That should be fun.

Do yourself a favor..... If you've got enough time to apply at TSA, you would probably be qualified to apply at CMR, ASA, XJet, SKW, PNC, etc. May I suggest staying away from St. Louis and starting your doomed career off on a better foot.

Sincerely, I don't want to see any more good people coming to a crappy company to suffer a long slow death.

Palm Tree is right. TSA is horrible. The culture is unbelievable. Hulas Kanodia has got to be one of the greediest of the greediest. CHQ would make you much happier. Hulas is currently trying to union bust by insinuating that he is creating an alter ego. Who knows what will solidify but now is not a good time at Trans States. Come to think of it. No time probably is.

ok, so which regional wouldnt be so horrible? it seems like everyone just has negatives about every place out there. any positives for tsa? what is the training like? how long is it from first day to actually flying? what is st louis like? i'm a cfi ready to move on.

thanks

Dude, you should come to pinnacle. I have been here for a little over 4 months and I have never been happier. Pinnacle lifestyle and pay rates are second to none. We have a new contract coming that will make us the best paid pilots in the world.

I know a few in my class had to sling a little on the side to make ends. Personally, training was so much fun that i didn't mind doing it for free.

503 TT must be a gulfstreamer! On a high note congrats on the job. Have fun and keep up the high spirits.

It's guys like that who kill the industry for the rest of us. **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** buy-a-jobbers. What other industry has dumba$$es that pay $70,000 bucks for an $18,000 a year job?

Seriously though, dude, go wherever gets you in the left seat fastests. Multi-turbine PIC is the name of the game. That and getting to know somebody. If you get your 1,000 PIC, and know someone at SW, JB, AW, etc. you'll get an interview. You've got 2 choices, you can go to a jet operator, (XJET, ASA, TSA, etc.) and sit in the right seat anywhere from 4 to 8 years, upgrade, then take another year or two to get 1000 PIC (even more than that to get competitive minimums), or you can go to a smaller, albeit crappier place like Colgan Air, Great Lakes, etc. and upgrade in a year, get your PIC time, and move on. At the very worst, if you can't stand it anymore, get about 2000 PIC, and go to a jet operator while you're waiting for one of the big guys to call. If you absolutely have a hard on for a jet, then go whereever has the shortest upgrade time, which right now looks like Skywest or XJET. Don't look at how junior the most junior captain is now, look at futures. Growth, hiring, etc. If an airline is hiring 700 pilots this year, then if nothing changes, you'll have 700 people junior to you in a year. Usually, once you get into the top 60% of the seniority list, you can probably hold captain in something, somewhere.

Bottom line, get in the left seat as soon as you can. More money, and you're getting that all important multi-turbine PIC that you need to get other people to look at you.

Shouldn't you have 504 hours soon flamebait?

I have a question for you regional guys....

I know how they did it at Mesa, but how do they do it everywhere else?

These 300 hour wonders from Gulfstream and the like.....how do they EVER make captain? If you show up with 300 hours, and do nothing but pull gear for 3 or 4 years, how do you get an ATP? You need 500 PIC for that.

???????

I believe that they are working on some sort of new waiver that will allow lower time pilots to upgrade to captain with less than 1500 hours, and when that happens, I will be at the top of the list.
