Does anyone know of companies in Louisiana that fly for Traffic Watch? I am looking for a job over the summer to build my flight hours. Thanks in advice
i know theres some patrol pilot positions open however i believe its with the police or highway patrol. where i'm from (not there) that means you need to be an officer first. look into it. i think they posted on climbto350.com within recent few months.
I don't know which part of Louisiana that you live in, but when I was a freshly minted commercial pilot in the Lake Charles area, I flew skydivers for two seperate organizations. This has been many years ago but the opportunity to do this kind of work might still be around in that area.
Just an idea. It's fun flying. The pay isn't much but at least your being paid while you build some time.
Just left LCH about a yr ago. I know of no skydiving gigs there. Not for the past 4 yrs. Still fly a slowtation part-time there and know of nothing. There is a outfit over at BPT that does skydiving. I think they have a King Air. As for LCH its fairly much a dead place to find any aviation work, unless your intrested in instructing. The person that asked about pipeline patrol may want to check with the (cant remember the name of airport) airport south of ranyes and east of jennings. They do pipeline patrol out of there.
Thanks fellow pilots for ya'll help. I am mainly looking for some kind of job over the summer to build some flight time. I will do anything really. I live in southeast Louisiana. Thanks again.
Hey, I thought I was the only pilot in LCH. It's pretty dead here. I did the CFI thing at Chennault for a few years until their insurance doubled. I also flew a Metro out of Regional but that has also desolved.
Shoot me a "pm" one day to let me know where you are flying at and where you did fly at in LCH.
I recently flew an Airbus into CWF (Chennault) to get a modification done. Looks like there has been many changes in the past few years around Lake Charles.
fly with a friend of mine out of CWF. Davis and Lundy law firm have a citation based out there (Air Justice, Llc.). i do know of the people you speak of though. like rk said not much happening in lch. it does seem like everyone has took a ride on the metroliner that used to be in lch though. my main source of income while in lch was flying the airmed helicopter out at lch. left there, but with the same company (PHI) flying a bell 230 spifr in columbia, sc now. boy do i miss the food down there. everytime i get down there my wife has be hauling a cooler of cajun food back. take care.
I have a question for the La Tech graduates. Has the professional aviation degree from tech has help ya'll any? Also, has the name of La Tech helped? Thanks
LCH is my hometown also, A couple guys I met there while on furlough talked about doin charters outta LCH. Any fruit bearing on that tree?

Send me some money and I'll send you some Tony's or a Turducken from Abe's. Great stuff.
Last year during Christmas season, I boarded the Metro and it was packed with about 150 cooked turduckens from Abe's. It was hard not to break one of them open and eat it on the way to CVG.
I know what you mean about missing the food. Every time I fly a plane to CWF....I have to make a run to SteamBoat Bills to load up on Crawfish. Then I pass by Abe's on the day we leave town to get some Crawfish Boudin. Man that stuff is good.
Airmed,
I know of PHI very well. Runs in the family. I now live in Charlotte, so I know what you mean about bringing a little bit of LA home with me on every return from a trip down there.
I haven't lived in LA in years, but I have almost all my relatives are
there and I get back to visit as often as I can. Born in LCH but raised about 20 miles north of there. (South Beauregard).
Contraband Days are coming up and I wish I could drag my boat down there to enjoy the festivities this year. One of these days.
