Hey All,

I'm one of your Flight Coordinator guys (option 2 for you touch-tone phones).

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for all of the hardwork you give us day in and day out. We wouldn't all be here if it wasn't for you...

Second of all, I want to apologize to everyone. You may have noticed lately that we're trying to get everyone to use thier blackberry more and do everything in our power to keep you from calling us. This is not the way we want it to be. It's simply lack of staffing on our end.

If we seem a little short on the phone when you call us, of if we suddenly lose our temper, it's mostly because of the stress of being overwhelmed with the phone call volume and/or workload.

That's really all I wanted to say...

Thanks for everything

-A Flight Manager

This is going down a slippery slope. They are going to work you guys so hard that they are going to burn you out to the point you quit. I understand there is a hiring freeze right now, but doing things like 3 flight managers at the third shift isn't going to create long term employees.

I think you guys have a thankless job because like us you are the point of contact for the customer.

That being said. I would encourage everyone NOT to page in their times. Call the flight managers, make the phone lines take forever, and make the company realize that they need to do more hiring. They need to fix the problems where they are instead of grabbing the low hanging fruit.

Paging in times is a slippery slope because like ATM's and bank tellers it reduces job security.

I don't know that just how I see it. Take it as you wish.

Thanks for your hard work. D

I too appreciate the work the FMs do-you guys get it from all sides at once. Creating more work for them won't work, other than to create more frustration for a great group. That's like creating more work for the pilots so company sees the need to hire more pilots. I'm all for reducing the workload of as many of us as we can, and if that means the painfully slow BB, so be it. Remember, the FM's don't have the work rules we have, and they have families to feed as well.

Actually, Diesel, you nailed it.

The more you guys call us, the more the phones will back up... and the sooner management will start to see the problem. You simply cannot use the blackberry for everything.

For example:

I work midnight shift, and it is no longer unusual to be on hold for 45+ minutes just to speak to one of us (this usually happens after 11pm when everyone goes home). You're trying to call in for shutdown after the last leg of your day, and if you don't get through to one of us, you're going to hose your owner trip in the morning because shutdown briefs should always be given verbally.

I've already seen one flight sold off simply because the pilots couldn't reach us for shutdown.

We have to leave you on duty until you reach us... and when you watch 170+ tail numbers on midnights, it is impossible to prioritize which crews need the most attention.

So say we sell off 15 trips before 2007 because of this... isn't that like, a couple of salaries?

It's going to get worse before it gets better... So please, complain about the hold times as much as possible to the ACP's. It's be a big help to us in the long run.

IFlyOU, You have my vote. I will continue to call and use you. You guys do a fantastic job and really do support us line pilots. I hate to see any of you get pink slips.

99% of the time its great talking to you FMs. But there is one whose first initial starts with "A" that has been difficult to deal with even before things got like they are now.
If you see him, let him know that we pilots are not his personal enemy. It's not just me, I hear from many of the other guys that this guy is "safety-wired pi$$ed off" and seems to treat us like we personally did something to him.
That being said, I hope they unscrew the mess and give you guys and gals the help you need. You may think we don't notice you, but we all do. And we appreciate all you do.
