Great Post!!
I've only been unemployed for 5 weeks now, but I've had more people blow off my phone calls, emails, visits, than in the last 8 years combined. Wish more DO's/CP's would remember what its like being on the outside looking in.
That said, I whole heartedly agree with using all avenues to network. A friend is walking my resume into his CP next week for some possible holiday contract work in his department (more than once this has turned into a permanent position). A poster on this site put me in touch with an employer looking for someone with my quals, I interview next week. (Thanks) Also, call everyone you know and ask them if they know of anyone who might be a source of good information, I've spoken to more people who were "friends of..." and nearly all were supportive and helpful. Bottom line is, get your name and situation out there any way you can.

Good Luck,

Rice
Keeping the Faith, 'cause sometimes thats all I've got.

**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** nearly forgot!!

One of these days I'll finish a thought before hitting the "Enter" key. None of these jobs is close to home, so if any of you know who's hiring in Denver............

Thanks,

Rice

It has always been this way.....

It has always been this way.....up and down, sometimes worse than others, there had to be some compensation for the last few years of crazed hiring - problem is that a lot of aviation companies and flight departments are run badly - kinda like that old story of the ant and the grasshopper. When times are good we spend and waste (I am speaking on a large scale here) and don't plan for the future or make ourselves indispensable, we rapidly become a liability when times are bad. We (the pilots) also treat each other pretty bad when there is a glut of pilots on the market and wonder why if suddenly we are out of a job why our calls are not returned or resumes are not responded to. I might be out of a job soon because the managment of my outfit spent like drunken sailors (used to be one so I can say this) when times were good (and didn't listen to any of us old timers that had been through the ups and downs a few times) and didn't look at the future. I wish everyone good luck -
