Just thought I'd throw it out there if anyone would be interested in splitting some time and doing some timebuilding. Needing to get requirements to get my IFR rating and need those 50x/c pic hours. Would be willing to split cost with someone and even have a room for them if they came here. Living in Indianapolis, IN so if anyone is interested in about 20-50 hours I'd be game. Let me know!

What's the rate and when do you want start flying. I would be game for a couple consecutive days of flying six or so hours a day.

How is it that you plan on splitting these hours? Hood time? Getting a CFI to give you dual?

Either way I would be ok with. I just need to get the PIC x/c hours for the IFR rating and like many do not have the money just to do solo time or I'd love to. So I need to use the regs in my favor and find a way of saving some money while doing time building. Yet on the side do some solo stuff because of course that's the only way we truely develop our skills.

I have a nice IFR C-150 here in the PDX area? Cost per Hour is $35.00 with me on board as a safety pilot and you under the hood we could do 50 hours XC time in less than a week depending on weather!

So if anyone in the Pacific NW would like to build some hood time I can help on my time off....

A few points to remember about time building for you IFR.
1. For the safety pilot to log PIC you must meet these critarium
a. pvt pilot with catagory and class
b. designated as THE pilot in command
c. only log the duration of flight when sole manipulator of the controls
d. may also log PIC when the flying pilot is 'under the hood.'
please sea FAR 61.51(e)(1)(iii), 61.3(a), and 91.109(b)(1)
2. Other pilot must not assume the possition of THE pilot in command, but only log PIC (when sole manipulator of the controls)
3. Rember that you are doing this to save money
a. Best case scenario. If you split your hood time requirement to 15 hours with CFI and 25 Hrs with safety pilot on XC flights you can return the favor and act as safety pilot for the other pilot for another 25 hours XC. This way, both pilots get 50 hours XC and 25 hours hood time. You both only need 15 hours with a CFI. Here's the big gotchya. Hours mean nothing if you cannot fly theplane. If your safety pilot is not a CFII make sure both you and your safety pilot work closely with one.
