I pick up this dayline a week ago worth 6.5 hours. Two round trips. It had a duty-in around 10:00. Wake up this morning around eight and start to get ready. Get a phone call from scheduling to let me know that the plane is broke and MX will have a update at noon and that I don't need to come to the airport until noon. I thought great I can get some stuff done around the house. About an hour later scheduling calls back again. This time to inform me that due to a late start they are going to remove the second trip so it can operate on time with someone else. Now it is an even better day! So around 11:00 I head to the airport and and my phone rings again, it's scheduling. They decided to downgrade the flight to a 50 and do not need me to come in today. The lady says have a great day and enjoy your weekend. Needless to say I had my best at work and never even showed up!

That's all fine and dandy, but think of the poor bastards that got extended to finish your trip.

Sorry to pee in your cheerios.

Sometimes you're the lucky one, and sometimes not. There is no reason not to enjoy being the lucky one when it happens.

Congrats, and enjoy!

got ya one up this week. I had a 4 day that started on Thursday. Saturday and Sunday were paid at time and a half. Wake up Wednesday morning and check my line. Thursday and Friday have been removed for IOE. Call scheduling and there is nothing for me until Saturday. Wake up Saturday morning to a call from scheduling telling me the rest of my 4 day has been removed due to IOE. 4 day paid vacation and 2 days at time and a half. Sometimes I love this job.

when your trips are removed for IOE do you get paid the original block? At Colgan we get 2 hour reserve pay for that day. i have lost mucho dinero because of being removed for IOE.

Last year, I had a three day trip over Easter weekend, got called the day before and said I had been displaced for IOE. The rule was if they don't call you for something else by your original showtime, you're released and can do whatever you want. Had a very nice Easter with the family.

Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.

So I roll the dice...trade my 2 day for a similar 2 day but with a checkairman.... Get taken off the trip a couple of days ahead of time (whew!) for them to do IOE. They could have reassigned me to something else with plenty of available trips, but dont for some reason. So I pick up a late out and early in for 7.5 hrs (3.75 guaranteed per day regardless of flight time) at time and a half on top of the 13 hr or so 2 day that has already been paid for. Not bad- 25 ish hrs of pay for 2 legs and sleeping in a nice hotel for the night. Sometime the sun shines...

Lucky!!!!! At my job, if my plane was broke.. I'd have to chill at the airport on duty until they brought in a standby plane. They would release the standby crew and i'd have to fly the run for the night, still being on duty, then get back to my place after a 13 hour duty time. Sleep a couple hours then take the broke ass plane out flying hoping the problem got fixed. And then look forward to my 1 and 1/2 days off on the weekend.

650 hours shouldn't you still be on IOE?

Through age 30, I devoted every resource I had into finding someone to pay me to fly airplanes.

From age 30 thru 60, I devoted every resourse I had into finding a way to get paid NOT to fly airplanes.

Didn't even have to use my AK. gotta say it was a good day

Wondered how long it would take for someone to make that connection!
Got that one in the iTunes shuffle.
