I Am thinking of leaving a Regional 121 Captain Position for a Corp. job. I don't have issues with my current job other than the fact of being gone from home much more than I would if I took the Corp. job. My long term goal is to be at FedEx. Any opinions on if it would hurt my chances?

The Corp. job is better pay, better quality of life, less driving, more nights at home, also have a family member in poor health and it would be much easier for me to help out with that situation if I took the Corp. job. I have been told by some it would hurt me and others told me it would not. How many Corp. guys get hired at FedEx?

How much CA time do you have in the RJ? Would you be CA with the new job? Almost sounds like a no-brainer given you situation.

Got about 500 PIC between jet and T-prop. I would be CA except for about the first 50-100 hours to satisfy the insurance co.

Maybe it would be better if you had 1000 PIC 121, but down the road it probably won't matter. Do what you need to do and don't let a job interfere with your life.

I agree... Get your 1000 pic... unless you're on reserve and that will take 5 years..

What corportation? Maybe I could take the corporate gig for you and take your worries away. Been trying to get out of 121 hell for awhile now.

Personally, I make family and quality of life first. You will have to consider PIC, Jet time and even gross weight of A/C to someday move on to FEX. I know that most corp. gigs are very family friendly and make it hard to leave.

I say be happy and love whatever you do. If you don't love it, its just a job and a paycheck.

I would fly a c-310 for the rest of my life if I could take care of my family and make enough to live.

Live, Love, Fly!!!

Exactly what I'm talking about. Now that I have kids, the 121 world is very unfriendly to families. If I was single, I would go for FedEx. Family time is my first priority. Anyone know of some good corportate gigs in PHX?

I agree. Family time is golden. I'm currently in the process of leaving Delta (9+ years) for a corporate job. The day I got the job offer, it was like a weight off my shoulders. It's a pay cut initially, but more time at home combined with a flying job that suits me better and offers tremendous future upside made it a no-brainer. Everyone has different priorities and this works for me. The major airline job was a disappointment.

Think seriously about what's really important for you and your family.
