Been thinking more and more every day about getting out! Time to enjoy life and spend a bit more time with the family me thinks.

Sounds like the previous discussions have been about people in sales/marketing/stock market etc.... just curious what others have done coming from such a specialized field. Anyone else have any other stories or suggestions? Maybe I should become the next Mike Roe or however his name is spelled, oh wait, that doesn't solve the issue at hand.

Cheers.

I recently paid a guy $400 cash to wire 240v into my workshop. Took him less than 3 hours. And this was under the table cash, during his free time. The other estimates I got were around $700 for the same job. Materials may have cost $100-150.

A new firefighter in my town, after graduating high school, getting his EMT, and finishing the fire academy, makes $600 a shift starting wage. Granted, the shifts are from 7AM to 7AM, but my buddy who does it says there is a LOT of time spent sleeping, watching movies, playing Xbox, surfing the net, cooking meals, etc. Not bad for a HS grad. Oh yeah, they work 8 days a month for around 60k/year, they know their schedule from day 1 until they retire, have a pension and generous medical benefits, and can "trip trade".
