I recently scheduled my new pilot for training at Prestosim for an Initial Type Rating. Prestosim then cancelled him at 5PM on Friday evening, for a Monday morning class, because of instructor schedule conflicts. I was forced to schedule him at another training company to accomplish school, however Prestosim charged me a 5% cancellation fee. I isn't our flight departments fault Prestosim had an instructor problem. The sales manager said we still owed them because of credit card refund fees (which by the way is illegal). All flight departments beware of these practices by PRESTOJERK (Prestosim).

Call the credit card company and dispute the charge. They will take the charge off your account, and then Prestosim will have to prove why it is a valid charge, which it sounds like they will have trouble doing.

Hmm...I know for a fact that they have paid the difference for 2 pilot slots across the street at another provider when they had this problem before. Something else had to have happened. Check with Arman<sp> (which I'm guessing is who is the one not getting you anywhere), get Tom B. involved if you have to. You must be very rational and professional when talking to Tom. He will provide the same respect to you. If you get angry/mad with him, you won't get anywhere, period. They should, at least, not charge you for the fee, it's their fault. I know that they don't have any full time instructors currently, a directive from the owner came out saying that they would only have part time/contract employees. We send about 10 pilots a year there and it has it's problems, yes you get what you pay for, but it works for us.

The cheapest is not always the best.....

I guess you already figured that out.

Also have heard some insurance companies won't accept this outfit for annual recurrent.
