is getting an intact package to the correct house. I still don't understand how my box can make it all across the U.S. while I track it, but get lost in the "delivery phase". DHL is without question the worst of them all, but Fedex is a close second with my deliveries. I've got to believe you can put a GPS in the trucks to accurately display where the driver drops the package and where he SHOULD have dropped it. Why not put a digital camera in that electronic pad they use and make them snap a photo of the residence for proof. I bet if one of you working there recommend that, you might get an employee of the month award. Thank God for honest neighbors two blocks away. UPS has never failed at getting my packages to MY door, although its usually at 9pm and a day late. That was cathartic.

Yea, but thanks to their heavy reliance upon "independent contractor" drivers and "part-time" employees working the sort, DHL is much cheaper than either FedEx or UPS. They pass those savings along to you!

Whoops, wait a minute. They're NOT cheaper, you say?

Never mind....

Here here, the independent contractors that DHL/Airborne uses are absolutely awful.

I've watched them many times unload my plane by throwing the packages from the aircraft into a pile in their truck-regardless of directional arrows, fragility and weight.

They have no respect whatsoever for the customers goods as such unless it's a document, I would avoid DHL/Airborne like the plague!

Well I have to say, how much are they supposed to care for $7.00 an hour? All the carriers I've come across get treated very poorly by the owners.
Now having said that, it does make it easier to unload not worring about having to "be careful" with the boxes:D .(That is if you even have to help unload). In SLC you are pretty much a required box mover for UPS:mad: .

You are right regarding the abysmal treatment of subcontractors, this is an unfortunate byproduct of the DHL/Airborne merger-if I remember correctly DHL bought Airborne unfortunately it's the Airborne corporate culture that has prevailed.

Prior to the merger DHL from a feeder standpoint was a consummate professional organization employing its own drivers in the field and the quality showed. Now we have basically Airborne wearing DHL's "vibrant " livery and they appeal to the lowest bidder and it shows!

Quality from the drivers? That would be cool to see a driver pull up and care about the company. I've never met the local owner here, but I don't think he know's his head from his a$$. The lowest bidder does show:rolleyes:.
