[font=verdana, arial, helvetica]Yesterday the FAA published a Final Rule on 'Aircraft Assembly Placard Requirements', whereby from June 2005 all US-operated aircraft (and probably all aircraft flying to the US) will have to fit seat-back placards specifying the country of assembly of the aircraft.

For example USA
or FRANCE
or GERMANY

I wonder if Boeing will be listing foreign parts content!

Now what safety-related passenger information function does that perform, I wonder?

Don't blame the FAA!

In Section 810 of the FAA Reauthorization Act (December 11, 2003),
the Congress directed the Secretary of Transportation to require that
each air carrier providing scheduled passenger air transportation
display, by June 12, 2005, a notice that informs passengers of the
country in which the aircraft they are aboard was finally assembled.
Like our messed up tax code (for which the IRS is often blamed) blame the twits we elected who make federal agencies do these silly things.

While I understand what you are saying, and in this case it appeared Congress was threatening withholding funds from the FAA with the reauthorization, I still think the FAA should have called BS on this one.

As we both know, this more than likely was not Congress as a whole, this was one or two politicians, who demanded this, before they would vote for the reauthorization of funds, for the FAA. The question is, who was it? High on the list of suspects, are those who gain monetarily from Boeing.

What a bunch of frigging yahoos:(

And this suprises you because...???

Not really surprised, just absolutely amazed at the continuing idiocy!
