With the recent reduction announcement I've been hearing rumblings & rumors of furloughing again.

Any traction to these rumors?

Furloughs happen only at Comair. With or without reason. Everybody else picks up aircraft, flying, upgrades and otherwise has a grand old time.

Hope this helps.

asked SH in recurrent just a few days ago. He said its not something they have looked at yet...but I wouldnt make any big purchases and maybe start putting some money back...but we are not there yet.

think the writing is on the wall...just makes sense. think about the number of flights and aircraft we operated this summer. just an example of how ASA likes to run crews. No way they would want an abundance of crews hanging around.

However, half of SH song and dance was the shortage of pilots that are just around the corner. And if the FAA changes rest rules, ASA would need to increase pilots by 5%. But you know how sloooow the FAA move.

Not sure it will be enough to save us.

Quote from SH 2 weeks before we furloughed last time

"We are not currently considering any furloughs at this time"

I don't think we are going to furlough. If we are going to start seeing e-mails for leave of absences, early-retirements, etc., then maybe we can start to worry, but I don't think it'll happen.

Doesn't make sense to furlough... seems like we'll be "right-sized" for the airplanes remaining with people leaving and lack of crews before the aircraft leave, we should be just slightly fat. On top of that rumors of AA and DAL hiring Q1 of next year, they'll need people to be online. Atlas just took two of our captains, FedEx another captain and supposedly those who interviewed last round are finally getting classes at DAL. Moved up several spots for setpember.

They'll jut move crews over to XJT in some way that gives the company what they want while causing max stress to the affected crewmembers.

I'd be more than happy to make the jump to XJT... go to some different cities, learn a different type, would break me out of the monotony of my own personal hell that is ASa

I remember when XJT was "right sized". All the hits are coming back again right in time for contract talks. What a suprise.

Bored so reading through various threads..This is a 99.9% accurate statement. Only in very rare instances would an airline furlough without offering leaves first.

Once the LOA's are offered then is the time to worry.. Alah Comair

According to CT, they won't make a decision on staffing until they get a look at the 2012 block hours. Something that actually makes sense for once.

Yeah like CT is a good source! He can't even control SH's mouthing off but hey, thanks for ALL we do eh CT?

We also lost a Captain to World and a First Officer to Kalitta.
