Become an Airline Pilot Today
Thursday March 15, 8:08 pm ET
PHOENIX, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Since 1989 one of the country's leading regional airlines, Mesa Air Group Inc., has partnered with San Juan College in New Mexico to offer a two year Aviation Degree Program with the sole purpose of training First Officers for the airline industry. The program was expanded in 2001 when Mesa Pilot Development (MPD) announced a four year Professional Flight Program through Arizona State University and then in 2002 formed an affiliation with the program at Midland College in Texas.

"The Mesa Pilot Development program has enjoyed enormous success, producing hundreds of outstanding professional pilots for our nation's airline industry," said General Peter Hayes (USAF Ret.), President of Mesa Pilot Development. "One of the unique features of our program is that upon successful completion of training, all our pilots are guaranteed an interview with Mesa Air Group and more than 97% have been hired there as First Officers," General Hayes added.
Mesa Pilot Development uses only high performance, top-of-the-line training equipment in its intensive, structured, professional training environment. Equipment includes Beechcraft A36 Bonanza, Piper Warrior and Beech B58 Baron aircraft, as well as the latest generation ground training devices and regional jet flight simulators.
"The caliber of pilots coming to us from MPD has been consistently very high and is a great tribute to the quality of the training they receive and the fact that it's specifically tailored to the high standards demanded by today's airline industry," said Mesa Air Group Chairman and CEO, Jonathan Ornstein. "Mesa First Officers have enjoyed some of the quickest time to upgrade to Captain of any airline in the country as our modern fleet of 200 aircraft has grown to include 180 regional jets. I believe that the opportunities for these MPD graduates in today's industry are very exciting," Mr Ornstein said.
The Mesa Pilot Development program at San Juan College recently shortened to 15 weeks its popular PACE (Professional Airline Career Enhancement) program for rated pilots. Minimum requirements to qualify for the program include:
* 200 total flight hours * Acceptable driving record * First Class medical * No degree required * Fulfill option A or B. Option A - Instrument Rating, Commercial-Multi-Engine Land Certificate Option B - Instrument Rating, Commercial-Single Engine Land CertificateFor further information on how to apply to the Mesa Pilot Development Program, visit: www.flightcareers.com or http://eastair.east.asu.edu/ or email [email protected]

MAPD has been around since 1989, I think most Mesa captains are already familiar with this program and the products that it outputs.

Well the site stated they had just lowered their requirements to get into the pace program, what were they before??? 400 hrs??? so figure you cut that in half, and you get what?

No, before it was 250 hours and an Associates degree (at the minimum).

Now, it's 200 hours and no degree (juse a HS diploma).
