Hey, it's got sexual content. I'm in! :D TC

Go rent Soul Plane, there's no pretty boy man-child but plenty of Captain Mac!

Well, if Dicaprio is in it then maybe they will land on runway 44 at LGA

Whats wrong with Catch Me If You Can? I liked it a lot.

This Aviator movie, however, Im not so sure. Has anyone seen the trailors for that Flight of the Phoenix movie? Apparently their plane goes down in the desert and they have to rebuild it while fighting off nomads

Anyone ever see the first movie with that title? It was based on an Earnest Gann novel and had Christopher Reeve and Rosanna Arquette. Classic aviation flick.

This new one has both Leo DiCaprio and Alec Bwaldwin. Probability of cheese = high.

Given that the real Howard Hughes was a playboy before he became a recluse as well as a bold race pilot, it's surprising to see DiCaprio in the lead. A pretty-boy like Leonardo just doesn't fit the bill in my opinion. Oh well, I didn't care for "Titanic" either.

In the original, the movie plot and actors were interesting enough that they didn't need gimmicks like fighting off nomads to make it work. Matter of fact, all the fighting was between themselves! I saw the trailer for this movie, what's ridiculous is that they practically show the whole movie in the preview, even up to the point where the 1/2 plane is taking off, it's ridiculous! At least it saved me my $8 admission, thank you.

Audiences nowadays are so numbed out by gimmicks, action and special effects that any movie is drained of substance. All movies are now judged by wow! factor, and special CGI effects.

And as far as this aviator movie goes, I'll watch it, if only for the planes, not the acting. It's a shame there's no more H-1, though.

I believe you have confused this with something else. "Flight of the Phoenix" was written by Eleston Trevor and in the motion picture credits for the movie of the same name there is no mention of Christopher Reeve.
It was however a good movie IMHO. Unfortunately, though, Paul Mantz lost his life while landing the "Phoenix". The airplane used was a Fairchild C-82 "Packet". The "Phoenix" consisted of the wings and the left boom and engine from the C-82.
The landing sequence was therefore left out of the movie. I have seen the clip, however, and what happened was a high sink rate developed close to touchdown and the tailboom failed at the hard touchdown The loss of the down force allowed the engine to tip forward and dig in and the airplane went on its back. Mr Mantz did not survive.

In the new version they use a C-119 which also is officially a "Packet" but was more widely called the "Flying Boxcar". I have a lot of time in the 119 and crossed the Atlantic and the Pacific with them as well as a lot of flying in Europe, Africa, Japan and Korea not to mention Pope AFB at Ft Bragg. <G> I'm looking forward to this new version...fingers crossed.

Kate Winslett said on Letterman that DeCaprio was a "big girls skirt" which for the English I believe is what we would call a part of the female anatomy.

No, no he's talking about "The Aviator", a little known 80s flick with Reeve, where he's a mail pilot and ditches his Stearman somewhere in the rockies where he's stranded with a b*tchy, whiny teen. Been a long time since I've seen it but it wasn't bad, from i remember.

EagleRJ, nice avatar haven't seen that one before. Do you have a link? As far as the movie, I will probably go see our favorite Hollywood pilot, just for the story. Of course the 8$ probably would be better spent on a current sectional!
