crashman, Midwest currently operates 11 MD80 aircraft. AirTran has 60 firm 737-700 aircraft on order. AirTran plans to acquire 14 737-700 aircraft in all of 2007. Yes, they do plan to replace the MD80 aircraft with each new 737 in 2007. But for the year of 2007 that still is gives you a surplus of 3 aircraft for 2007. Starting in 2008 AirTran still has 46 firm orders of 737 aircraft and hopefully a new hub to grow in MKE. So with the initial intergration there may be some stagnation but with those aircraft orders and a new hub potentially to grow, where is the stagnation? I know with 2 MD80s and 15 to 25 50 seat RJs there will certainly be stagnation at the current Midwest. When were you on reserve? I'm curious as to how recent these things have been taking place.
Any ideas or rumors as to what is going to happen to growth if a MEH merger occurs? A lot of the talk from AAI management says scrapping an MD80 for each new 737 delivery. That sounds like stagnation to me... not growth. Whats the rumors in the crewrooms?
I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.
