Hey there everyone. I am looking for information on Texstar out of Denton. Latest news I found on the board from awhile back is they were down to 6 planes.

I am just looking for any recent info. How is mx? Pay? You know all the standard questions. I am still a couple of months away from applying to anyone but I am just trying to find out who the players may be. Thanks...

STAY AWAY!!!!

AH, there NOT a player. They are down to 6 because of the MX. Three fatals in three years, need I say more. One a friend.

STAY AWAY!!! (only if you like breathing that is).

keep instructing and find a regional.

Well, thanks for the heads up SquirrelDog. I did not realize that things were so bad there. Were all these crashes MX related.? I guess I will dig into the NTSB reports.

This place was suggested to me through a friend of a friend type of deal. They said that this was a great place. You know how that goes.

It is very sad that so many have to give their lives working at places like this.

If your going to dig into NTSB Look for their last few names it changes with every Fatal

Texas Air Charters

National Express

Texstar

i found an exhaust stack that had burned through and burned a hole in the firewall on a 401 there. it was right out of the 50-hour exhaust inspection AD. that aughta tell you something.

all 3 fatal crashes were maintenance related. 1. wing fell off after a gear collapse on the ramp. 2. elevator installed on 402ZB, same day it noses over from 400' AGL after the pilto reported a problem.
3. N402ME crashes right after takeoff after the pilot reports a problem. his dad and brother work for SWA.

Thanks for the great info guys. How in the world do these type of places stay open? After an accident history like that, I can not believe the FAA doesn't go in there and put these guys down. What gives?

Any other recommendations for smaller 135 operators in the Texas area? I have read about GTA and Projet. It seems like a lot of conflicting information depending on who is talking. I am just looking for a safe company that will treat the employees with some respect and not try to kill them. Does any place exist?

Try Southwest, Fed Ex or UPS. LOL :D

geronimo, with your time the answer is NO. Keep teaching a little longer.
BTW, texstar also lost a wing in flight I believe.
GTA has some weird pay practices. $1000/ month and beloe a certain TT or certain aircraft no pay at all. Heard from one guy they hadn't paid him for several weeks.
Projet I don't know much about. I have sent them a lot of resumes and never got a reply, went to their office a few times, no result, tried to call, chief pilot got mad and started yelling and screaming.

actually texstar was better than projet or GTA.

(gta) they used to give you a one-vor A-36 and tell you to go to midland when it was 200-1/2 and if you didnt go you never got to fly a baron again. they also used to do training on revenue flights with freight. GTA i heard if you show up with a baron and they have 1500# of freight for you, you'd better take it all or get a call from the chief pilot.

not trying to rile you, just keeping the rumor mill from catching fire ;)

not true...all the Bonanzas have either a Loran or GPS with dual VOR's, i can post N numbers if you like.

when there is a part 91 leg inbetween, sure. but otherwise, no.

again, wrong. ask the SAT pilot who does this route every night. he routinely bumps 200+ pounds a night, and hes been there for 2+ years.

anywhoo, the pay does suck. if i were to rate the three companies (GTA< ProJet, Texstar) itd go like this...

best pay-ProJet
best schedule- Texstar
best maint- GTA

...again, just my opinion :D
