Anybody here know of a good source for the technical definitions of the various temperatures you can get from your instruments? I am talking about things like "SAT" , "TAT", "true OAT", "Ram air Temp", etc.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

sat I believe is the actual temp corrected for altitude density and ram temp..... oat is the actual uncorrected temp the outside probe is reading regardless of ram error.( friction over probe gives rise in temp from friction.)Tat ummmm. so many theories on this. not possitive on total air temp.

TAT is the sum of static temperature and ram temperature if the air is stopped. Interpret it how you like. My technical interpretation is, If the TAT is 10 degrees or less w/ visible moisture in flight then turn the cowls on because I forgot to bring my acacus.
