I am not 100% sure but it sounds like a new name for Pro-Jet. They fly for telesis, it is the check/bank company supplying and organizing the cargo. Sounds like they are taking over Pro-Jet and/or GTA out of Love field. It is still check hauling in pistons.
Again, being from this area this is what it sounds like, so check the other sources first before diving into any kind of job commitment. GTA "ok" I guess; Pro-Jet...uh...I would go to GTA.
GTA does have better maintenance, but that isn`t saying much. To be totally honest, I did my 10 months there, survived somehow, but wouldn`t go back again if my life depended on it. If I were laid off now, and had the opportunity to go to GTA just to have a flying job, I wouldn`t do it if I knew the in`s and out`s of that place. I was getting one of their 402`s ready for a flight when I noticed my left engine was due an overhaul 3 hours ago. I called, and told them what I had found, and the Director of maintenace told me he had recieved a letter from the FAA stating we could go over the time by 200 hours. Whether or not he had recieved such an extension, he wanted me to sign his name and certificate number in the books signing it off. I was like no way. Yeah, they are a world class organization.
the only point i was trying to make is Pro-Jet isnt called "Broke-Jet" for no reason. i thought GTA was the ones constantly backing them up cause they cant keep their planes in the air
If you answered no to any one of those questions, I wouldn`t expect a phonecall. Those guys want you to bust through level 6 thunderboomers, fly in severe icing conditions, and takeoff even if your destination is reporting zero zero with no legal alternate anywhere around. There motto is "go go go". During our groundschool, some guy from the FSDO came over and talked to us. He stated, " these guys here don`t give a rats ass about your safety, well being, or your lives. He was exactly right. If you are okay with that type of flying, then I`d expect that phone to ring at anytime. Hell, they may call at 6 in the morning and want you to fly a run without any groundschool, checkride, etc....hahaha
well, im on the other side of the coin. i did my time, moved on to a turbine job, and would not hesitate to go back if the market caved. dont get me wrong, parts of it suck, but if it was sit at home or stay current with 135 time? you betcha' id go back...
i was there just over a year, never flew anything more than a Level4 (it was Level 3 at takeoff, but built up before i could get there...i have skirted a few Level 5's though), i actually got into an argument with management for taking off into "known" icing (even though it was only an Airmet, and never picked any up), and ive been known to use Witchita Fallas as my alternate for Amarillo (more than a few miles).
basically, if you use good judgement and show em youre not an idiot, you wont have any trouble with em. youll find that most of the guys that swear they wouldnt go back, wouldnt be allowed back even if they wanted to..we just dont know the whole story
