As a person who has gone down this road a couple of times, you cannot buy the certificate but you can buy the company that has the certificate. Adding a jet to a certificate that has at least a turboprop isn't a big deal anymore. Best to keep the CP, DirOps, DirMaint in their current positions and rotate them out over time if you want your own crew in there.

The question to ask yourself is if you want a charter company to be your primary business. If not consider putting the airplane on someone else's certificate and negotiating a deal that makes sense to you. Almost any 135 operation will put another airplane on their certificate. Just make sure you're comfortable with how they operate.
