Sometimes you need an analogy to make things clear. A friend sent me this one, so I thought I'd post this light-hearted piece of tax wisdom:

If you don't understand the Democrats' version of tax cuts (and you are not alone), maybe this will help explain it for you:

50,000 people go to a baseball game, but the game was rained out._ A refund was then due.

The team was about to mail refunds when the Congressional Democrats stopped them and suggested that they send out refund amounts based on the Democrat National Committee's interpretation of fairness. After all, if the refunds were made based on the price each person paid for the tickets, most of the
money would go to the ticket holders of the most expensive tickets. That would be unconscionable.

People in the $10 seats will get back $15, because they have less money to spend. Call it an "Earned Income Ticket Credit."_ Persons "earn" it by demonstrating little ambition, few skills and poor work habits, thus keeping them at entry-level wages.

People in the $25 seats will get back $25, because that's only fair.

People in the $50 seats will get back $1, because they already make a lot of money and don't need a refund. If they can afford a $50 ticket, then they must not be paying enough taxes.

People in the $75 luxury seats will have to pay another $50, because they have way too much to spend.

The people driving (or walking) by the stadium who couldn't afford to watch the game will get $10 each, even though they didn't pay anything in, because they need the most help._ (Sometimes known as Affirmative Action)

Now do you understand?_ If not, contact Representative Richard Gephardt, Senator Tom Daschle or Senator Hillary Clinton for assistance.

Wish I could have said it as well.

Here's another anecdote to explain some of the difference between the Republicans and Democrats.

A Daughter-Father Talk

One time there was a young teenage girl that was about to finish her first year of college. She considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat and her father was a rather staunch Republican. One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his opposition to programs like welfare.

He stopped her and asked her how she was doing in school. She answered that she had a 4.0 GPA but it was really tough. She had to study all the time, never had time to go out and party and often went sleepless because all of the studying. She didn't have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because of all her studying.

He then asked how her friend Mary, that was attending the same college, was doing. She replied that she was barely getting by. She had a 2.0 GPA, never studied. Was very popular on campus and was at parties all the time. She often wouldn't show up for classes because she was hung over.

He then asked his daughter why she didn't go to the Dean's office and ask why she couldn't take 1.0 off her 4.0 and give it to her friend that only had a 2.0. That way they would both have a 3.0 GPA.

The daughter fired back and said "that wouldn't be fair, I worked really hard for mine and my friend has done nothing."

The father smiled and said: "Welcome to the Republican Party."

You guys are pretty F'in dumb if you think all Democrats think that way.

Dointime,
Judging by your number of posts you should know by now not to take much of what you read on these lighthearted threads seriously. Just sit back and have a laugh...it feels much better than being pissed about a joke!

Hey Libs- Relax-the post is a light hearted attempt to highlight the fact that Democrats, as a rule, don't think- it is a party that has evolved into a loose confederation of perverts who operate on emotion and feeling. Think I'm kidding? Try to find the "Transgender" Rep at the next GOP (Grand Old Party, baby!!) convention. Fly safe in your lace panties-:D

I'll spare you a repetition of my non flying resume, but I can tell you that I spent most of my life as a very active democrat.

The above quoted anecdote is a representation of the current democrat desire to re-engineer society, make life more "fair". Since this isn't really possible, the next most appealing end is to redistribute wealth to those who have no real claim to that wealth. Wealth is earned, and if wisely invested it grows over generations.

The notion of giving credit to those to whom no credit is due to truly a socialist idea, and dear to the hearts of many in my former party.

Sadly, that's the hard truth. Now, lighten up a little. Please.

No, not all Democrats think that way, but the party leadership does.

For all the faults of the Republican Party Leadership (and there are many), at least they aren't trying to steal from those who worked for it and give it away to lazy bums.

Jason

Hey, I'm one of those bums! I barely make enough to feed myself on my bs pay. And I won't get one red cent from Bush's tax cut! Think about that one. Nice incentive plan huh.

Nice incentive plan huh.

I won't get much either. I WILL be paying taxes on my unemployment, though.

If either of us had been paying the exorbitant taxes that the truly wealthy pay in America, then we would be getting a lot of money back. By percentage, you and I will STILL be paying less taxes than the "Rich", even after they get some small portion of their money back.

Don't let this "class warfare" idea mislead you. The incentive that you want to keep in mind is to do your best, work hard, and accomplish all that you can. When you do, financial rewards come, too. Most importantly, you will experience personal satisfaction.

The idea of the reduction in taxes for those who now pay the HIGHEST tax rates is to get some of that money invested back into business, creating jobs as the economy expands. Since we already know that no one has ever taxed their way out of an economic slump, and we know that a tax rate reduction stimulates the economy and results in an increase of money flowing into the treasury, we know that this is the best way to go.

Anybody know of an aviation forum where they talk about aviation? I need to find one asap.

All right...that's it. dmspilot, tell me what college you attend, and I'll be right over. I'm gonna find you some parties to go to, and some chicks to meet. You remind me of Cameron from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off".

Bottom line: put down your FAR/AIM on Friday and Saturday nights. Go to some parties. Meet some women. Get laid. Do whatever it takes to get that 4 foot steel post removed from your @ss. Have a sense of humor! You wandered into a thread called "Tax Cuts." What did you think they'd be talking about in here? IFR alternate requirements?

:p :p :p

roflmao :D

I've been working on my ATP. The LAST thing I want to hear about on this board is alternate requirements!!!

:D

I knew it was going to be about tax cuts... maybe a news article, a question, possibly about how it would affect pilots, etc. I didn't know it was gonna be a bunch of BS and a rediculous story about sporting event refunds.

I read about other crap all day, then I come here so I can read about aviation instead, and what do I find...the crap that I came here to escape!

Doesn't exsist, gets broing real quick.

Besides just because there are non-aviation topics doesn't mean we can't discuss it.

Gets boring?

You have the entire internet to look at, but the only site you can come to is this one? If aviation gets boring, then don't come here any more!

BTW...you people claim this thread was light-hearted humor; a joke. What happens if you make a joke like this while flying a trip with somebody, and that person turns out to be a democrat? Yeah, you'd be real fun to fly with...

It would be a fun trip. A difference of opinion stimulates discussion, discussions are interesting. The most hilarious, eye-opening, and often entertaining trips are those with somebody from a wildly different background. The whole hiring process is based on finding individuals with sufficiently mild, amneable perosnalities so that they might mix in the cockpit without catastrophic consequences. I should hope that a discussion of tax policy would not lead to cataclysmic CRM incident.

dmspilot, you're reminding me of Captain Key, British European Airlines. So pissed off at the world that he has a coronay, literally. After takeoff he commands the slats up and has the crew so paranoid that they comply, despite being far too slow for such an action. They effetively converted a Trident into a smoking pancake. Dude, get some fresh air before you pop a rivet.
