I want to record a flight to show family, friends, etc what i do all day. I have a new panasonic Digital video recorder and i want to be able to input the audio from the headset into the camera. I fly an E145. Has anyone tried this using the audio console for the jumpseater? I think I can input a wire from the headset jack to the MIC on the camera but am not 100% positive. Any help is appreciated!!

Not sure of how the IC is set up in your big stuff but if a regular headset will work in your plane then a simple patch from the headset side will tap directly into your recorder. I did it in my bird and the audio is perfect. Good luck.

I'm clueless on the jet thing (and just about everything else, too) but have heard if you don't do it right, it can hold the mike open........ Heard of it happening to a couple of guys trying to film a 172 flight, they were taxiing around laughing at the ground crew...... and everybody got to hear it all! Do your homework and you should be alright! Good luck!

I've recorded audio in smaller airplanes before. I just went to radio shack and got a cord that has a 1/4" adapter on one end and the mini plug on the other. The only thing is you have to have a spare set of headset jacks(backseat of the 172) otherwise you won't be able to hear. It could work though if you had a portable intercom.
