tall folks

I am an up and coming aviator and I just had a question out of curiousity. There are probably more things I should be worrying about, but I figured I'd ask anyway. I am about 6'6" and I was just wondering and any of you know any fellow regional pilots out there that are as tall as I am. I guess I am just a little apprehensive about whether or not I can even fit into an erj / crj if one day I get hired. Any info you can give would be a great help, or you can just tell me to shut up because I'm stressed over nothing.

If you can crawl into a PA28, you will have no problems, at least in the ERJ. The seats are starship-enterprise-captain grade compared to anything you'll find in a cessna or piper recip. Everything is extremely adjustable.

The only thing you'll have to do is duck when you walk into the passenger cabin, since the ceiling is only 6'0".

The rudder pedals on the CRJ move back and forth along ways. Not so much the seat. You should have no problem. I'm 6'1" and have plenty of rudder travel to go if needed. The seat doesn't go back very far though...Sucks to prop your feet up on the foot rests below the crt's (screens). Good luck getting hired in the furture...

No issue at all in the ERJ. I'm 6'3" and I fly with the seat one notch aft of full forward, rudder pedals about 1/3 back from the front stop. In cruise I can slide the seat back far enough that I can't even reach the pedals without moving them forward at all. As mentioned above, standing up is a beeotch. You'll soon enough develop the bent neck head to the side posture required to walk to the galley..

Guy in my class was 6'5'' or so and used to play college football and they put him on the brasilia...I think you're OK unless you plan on flying C152's for the rest of your career.

I'm 6'7 280lbs. The only thing I can't fit in is a King Air and light twins.
I had no problem sliding in the seats of the Saab. Once I was in, it was like sitting in a Cadillac compared to the pipers and cessnas.

I know a guy who's 6'7" an another who's 6'4" - neither have had any problems in the CRJ or ERJ

You'll do just fine, the RJs where designed with short people in mind!

I'm 6'5 and have no probs. in the ERJ. Only bad thing is standing up and as mentioned above you will perfect the bent neck, head to the side routine. I slide the seat all the way back a few times every flight to stretch my legs. Plus, chicks dig tall guys. good luck to ya!

I'm 6'7" and I'm flying a 737. No problemo! Flew DHC-8's before, no problemo!

The problems for us tall folk begin when you go to the lav and refuse to squat to pee.. but that's another story altogether.
