taking the ASVAB, Army Regs,Help....

hey guys,
i took the ASVAB back in 1996 for the first enlistment. got out in 2000 and got back in the guard in 2005, few months ago. i had to retake the ASVAB to raise my score a bit and missed by 2 points.. GT score..
Now, the lady down at the educations office said that i have only one more chance to take the ASVAB and then i can't take it anymore.. also, i took this test on the 29th of April and thought that i had 30 days before i could take it again, now she is telling me that i have to wait 60 days...

does anyone know the Regs on this..

thanks!!

Call the recruiting office close to you they know those regs by heart.

Look'n for that '110' that seems to be required to do anything but fix generators or shoot people?

:D

Been there ... done that ... got the scars to prove it.

pepper,

To put these things in perspective, your score ROUGHLY shows that you are smarter than 70% of the general population. The Army wants people who are smarter than 75% of the general population for that job.

[sqwkvfr, I presume that was for my benefit. Thanks]

thanks guys,,, my fingers go faster than my brain so the spelling sucks.. oh, well... i looked it up and found on military.com that it said that i could take it as many times as i wanted to.. i just have to say that it was too hot or something that messed me up while takeing the test.. weard but true.. that stupid 110,, 2 points.. oh well, i will get it this next time for sure...

thanks,
pepper

Pepper, I'm not trying to be a dick; --unlike on some of the political threads-- I'm serious. If you use that 60 days to work on spelling and grammar, you'll easily score those extra few points that will put you over the threshold.

If I remember right, mechanical reasoning and math were other major testing points on the ASVAB, and I don't think that one would be able to make any serious improvements in those areas without a few years of life experience. (unless, of course, you specifically remember some of the questions that you remember to be problematic and you take the time to research their correct answers)

Here's another resource...it looks like the first link might be particularly helpful.

Best of luck to you...please let us know how it goes....

There are ASVAB prep books that I am told are very good. Rather than just get a 112 or a 113, you could notch a 120 or better and while you won't get promotion points ... anyone looking over your 214 when selecting for something special will notice. :)

(Or you could do what I did: make a gigantic score on the thing and then when the recruiter says "Son, you're pretty sharp. You can pretty much take your pick." You say ... "Well sir, I'd most like to jump out of airplanes and shoot people. Got anything like that?" :D)
