I was wondering what kind of process is in place at the fractionals for pilots who wish to move into a different airframe. For instance, if I started off in the 400 at NJA and wanted to go, say, into the BBJ? Is the process similar to the airlines in which slots must be open on the airframe/domicile and you must have enough seniority to hold the airframe/domicile? Do you start off on reserve in your new airframe? Does the pay in the new airframe start off at Year 1 since it's your first year in the new airframe or do fractional pay scales take into account total time with the company?

Thanks for any and all info.

Even better, call FlightSafety Toledo tell them you're due for ___ initial (the airplane you want to be in), and your chief pilot wants you in the next available class. You will be in training for the planes of your dreams within 20 minutes.

When you come to NJA you are locked for 2 years as a FO in your plane. You can bid captain at any time. You put in a standing bid that lists which aircraft and seat you want to fly. After your lock expires, each time a bid comes up, you go to your highest priority aircarft that your seniority can hold. Say they post 6 XL Captain slots. The top 6 senioirty pilots that have the XL selected and are not locked get the award. On your first day of training you switch to Reserve and you stay on reserve until the quarterly schedule bid comes around and you bid on a line in your new aircraft. This is because different aircraft have different 7/7 start days so you can't keep your old line in your new aircraft. Pay for the "normal" aircraft is based on years with company so you don't start back at year 1. However, the pay scales for the BBJ and Falcon EASy are determned by years of service in that fleet, so you would start at year 1.

The two year seatlock is waived for NJA new hires for a Captain award in any airframe, example are the recent C560 Encore captain awards going to FOs with less than two years of seniority.
