Does anyone one happen to have information on Swift Aviation and their operation? Hiring plans? General idea of the type of pay and schedule on the Legacy. Thanks for any information. Not to try and repeat the previous post but I'm also trying to get back to the PHX area. The commute is getting a little old.

Seems we only had those brown paper bags growing up, not the plastic. But I did eat a fair amount of paint chips. All that aside I'll admit I don't know much about the corporate flying world. I'm just starting to do my research after flying at the regionals for 6+ years. I don't know much about swift, they just seem to be a big operation plus they fly the legacy which I figured could help my chances of being hired since I have 2000+ hours PIC on the ERJ. And the final reason is that my sister in law is niece to the Swift empire owners, hangs out with his wife occasionaly. Thought she may be able to drop in a good word for me. But now you have me curious, what are they having problems with?

I just quit there and I'm curious myself. Seemed to be doing good when I left?

Got an offer from a major. Better pay, sched, bennefits.....at least in the long run. Flew the X on the FLOPS deal. We flew a lot, but every day was an absolute goat roap from the word go! Had to get out when the chance came.

Swift seems to do most of their hiring into the Citation V. With time and a type, you might get into the Legacy right off the bat. If things go well though, they'd like to sell them all instead of operate them. Start pay in the low 50's, sched depends. The Legacy guys seem to be run pretty ragged. Charter, Demo's and 91 stuff for the owners. If you have a connection to the Moyes, I'd try that angle. The way things are now, I'd say you have a 0% chance of getting on over there if you don't know anybody.......pretty much like every where else in this industry.

One more thing. Don't listen to that Jizz....ooops, i mean Griz guy. He's just another angry Nutjets pilot. As it stands now, Swift is a MUCH better place to be then Netjets.

He's been called a lot of things that start with a D....... At least he figured out how to pour a beer finally. I'm so proud of him.

commuterguy, I think you have me confused with someone else.

steveg flew most of his career knowing he'd never be number one. Went through his whole flying life knowing the best he'd ever be is number two. That sort of pressure can have a negative effect on a guy........hair loss, heavy drinking, poor performance on F.O.M. tests, etc......but I'm proud too, he seems to be coping well.

Griz,

So what you are you saying is since Swift wrecks a bunch of Freightliners their planes will start falling out of the sky? Is Swift Aviation Group management going to be replaced by trucking management? You know for a fact that the SEC is going to "slap" the owner? If so, what does the trucking side have to do with the flight side. As far as I could tell, the aviation side was a self supporting entity.

Berkshire profits just fell 42%. Looks like another few years to finalize the contract. "Why would you want to be part of that"?

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Griz,

Your "factual" information is irrelevant and as I recall, your first post didn't include any information at all. All you did was make an ignorant comment about playing with plastic bags as a child and that Swift Air Group was in some sort of trouble. Lets get it out in the open. Please inform us all about their "dubious" safety record. I think a X clipped a wingtip on a light pole in ORD about three years ago, but other than that, the Swift Air safety record is near perfect. Oh, I'm sorry you were talking about their trucks.....ya, ok, now I see the connection? You're a Moron!

I don't see it as an attack at all. Just an ill-informed Netjets guy who's bitter about his situation and has the wrong opinion on somthing he knows nothing about. Very typical of a person who is insecure about their current situation......or perhaps their manhood!

"Swift sucks" coming from a Netjets guy. Man, if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black?

Isn't it sort of hypocritical to rag on us about a Berkshire's profits, then profess how your (ex) "aviation side" is self supporting? NetJets is just as self supporting.

I am a bit shocked at xrated's comments about NetJets. It makes me wonder the conditions on which he quit.

When Swift was still vendor for us, we hung out with the Swift guys as much as our own pilots. Never was a ill word said between either group. Personally, I miss the Swift partnership, they are a good group of guys (with one exception I guess). I still walk up and talk to the Swift pilots when I see them, though it's not as often since they signed on with Options. I've never heard anything bad about their company from Swift's pilots.

NJA Capt,

We all know just because Buffets profits dropped 42% doesn't mean there is going to be fall out at Netjets. I was just trying to make a point. Perhaps I just got a little deffensive about the comments Griz made about Swift as you did mine. The original post was from a person who wanted some info on Swift. If you ask me, I'd say Swift would be a good place to go, if you can get in. I'd know, I worked there for 4.5 years. Griz is a idiot (who happens to work for Netjets) who made a foolish, uneducated comment. The fact that he "hasen't recommended that anyone come to NetJets in a very long time" speaks volumes of his opinion of his current employment. He said there was better options for pilots than Swift. The guy wanted to come to PHX so I'm curious myself? I don't know anyone at Swift that would steer anyone clear of an opportunity there.

Since you are "wondering", I left on very good terms on my own accord.

Been crying to my monkey all day. I'm so depressed about my test scores. To think, I could've skipped the last 5! Still concerned I've "peaked".

Come on Griz, you can do better than that.Steveg, just stroke the monkey, it will make you feel better.

Griz,

X-rated is far from being an idiot. Anyone that can pour like that is a friggin' genious. Besides, if he is an idiot, then that means I am 1 less than an idiot, and that can't possibly be true. Have you ever wrestled a pig in the mud? I have (grew up in Kansas) and the pig usually winds up pretty clean. Stroke a monkey wrong however, and you are screwed.

You seem to have a lot of hate and animosity out there. Good luck with that. I've seen it do wonders for lot's of people. Probably your first flying job I'm guessing? It'll really help your career to tell everyone else what idiots they are. Especially when you point out grammar mistakes while using grammar mistakes. It's kind of like wrestling a pig.... Oh never mind, we covered that.

**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** steveg, that was so sweet it brought me to tears. I'll poor you a beer any day!Griz, I guess this argument is over. If things get any worse over there at Netjets, P.M. me and I'll walk your resume in over at Swift. With their safety record, they'd be glad to get an experienced X pilot such as yourself.

Ding ding ding......everyone to their own corners!!!!

Didn't mean to start off a huge fight. I appreciate everyones comments; good and bad. It has given me more insight than I had when I originally posted.

Good idea commuterguy!

Your question about Swift has gotten way out of line. The Swift patrol is hot on the trail of any subversive comments. It seems to me that peoples on this forum in favor on Swift has been busy attacking the other people that questioned the current stituation at Switft. Swift could be the best thing going now but who'es gonna know?
