I have yet to interview at either comapany, but I have friends at both that are willing to walk in a resume. The question I have is,regardless of pay, which airline would be better for my family life since I live in Houston. I like SWA's pay,but I like CAL's route structure. And if the pay were equal,I would rather fly 787s to S.America than 737s to El Paso.

I know that you will all tell me to go to whoever hires me first, but I'm looking for some first person perspective here.

Houston is pretty senior for SWA, probably 2nd after DAL or maybe 3rd behind PHX, depending on your seniority level. doubt that will change by much any time soon. more a factor for making Captain down the road since the bases aren't all that different FO seniority wise. i.e. more Capt's commute for seniority than FO's do, if I had to guess. Not sure how senior HOU(actually I guess that should be IAH) is for CAL.

With 1800 hours you would rather fly 787's hum?
You generation xrs make wanna :puke:

I'm sure there will be a cat fight between the ladies that work at HR on both companies as soon as your buddy assisted resumes land on their desks

Jeeezzz!

What do you rate the impotance ofa type rating once SWA starts interviewing again? Is it a necessary 5,000$ gamble?

Having the type will still be a huge competitive advantage once we resume interviewing. It gives them the ability to assign you a class date when they need you, instead of having to wait for you to go get the type once you're in the pool.

That said, I have a lot of friends who have been hired in the last year or so with out the type. All of them however, had at least 5000 PIC-T and all but 1 had a Check Airman letter.

It seem for low time guys, having the type is still very, very important.

SWA presently has a 1000 PIC Turbine requirement. Assuming you upgraded and got your ATP at 1500 hrs, methinks you still have some small airplane flying to do.

And you're asking this in the Regionals forum why?? Oh yeah, you want smart-ass replies. Okay, how about, CAL has a bunch of scabs, and SWA flies a bunch of cattle. Do you prefer festering skin wounds or cow dung?
